in laymans terms. I went and read the announcement board all about it and I still don't understand it. Will AW have the same format? I am only a part time seller, will it have any effect on me? I would appreciate any help. Thanks

Hello. Yes, 2.0 is eBay's new way to abuse
those who wish to sell items on their site.
With 2.0, you now have to wait for 5 web
pages to load in order to submit an auction,
instead of the previous 1 page. Of course
eBay points out fairly that with 2.0 you
no longer lose data when clicking the back
button. What they fail to explain is why
they couldn't do the same thing with the
old form. eBay claims that 90% of those
surveyed prefer 2.0, but several threads
here on AW show the opposite to be true.
Slower listings should mean fewer listings,
which will mean less money in eBay's coffers,
which will require a fee increase on those
of us who stay. I've started using a bulk
loader for listings, but must use 2.0 (at
the moment) to relist items. Good luck!

I am still confused by the whole 2.0 thing.
Will we still be able to list through AW or other services to list? Are they trying to make it harder to use other services while they gear up their own bulk lister coming soon?
Edited to add:
From what I see it will have absolutely no effect on those of us using third party services. Right?
I'm much more concerned with this fixed price thing. I don't like it. I like the idea of being able to bid on something that I consider a real bargain and then hoping I get it...that is what made Ebay popular and IMO losing that will be it's downfall. Now it is just another store---look it up, buy it, done! If I want that I will go to other sites.
Now, we will have to wade through all the garbage to get to auctions. At least with BIN we still had the option to bid and wait and see. I have never bought a thing on Half.com because I didn't like that concept and now it will be all over Ebay.
That may just be the way I feel, and It may wind up being very popular...but, it is killing off Ebay as we once knew it(which only has a very very teeny piece of that left anyway).
I guess those of us who really loved it as it was will just have to hope an alternative site pops up that can pull the bidder base necessary to make it worth the time and effort it takes to put listings over on it.

SYI 2.0 has several advantages ... for eBay. Instead of one page, eBay now has five pages to promote their additional for-pay services, like picture hosting, eBay payments (Billpoint), and listing extras like bold and featured. It also creates a huge hurdle for sellers offering inexpensive (under $10) items. And it creates more incentive to use eBay's own premium listing tools like Sellers Assistant.
The new SYI 2.0 is a virtual mine field of extra auction fees.
OT, when you create a new seller's account, the default option is to accept Billpoint payments. There is no mention of Billpoint fees. A new seller must look long and hard to find that info.

The eBay we all knew and loved was a community of small sellers and buyers that had tended to have integrity and honored their sales/bids. eBay is now Power Sellers and bidders that may or may not pay for the item they bid on and won.
There is no other online auction option with the slight possibility of some successful niche auctions. The other auction sites are nothing more than warehouses with 'Take It Now' prices on most items.
eBay has evolved and is still evolving and the auction format is fading away. We can blame bad bidders and Power Sellers or whatever but the evolution of eBay continues.

I've used 2.0 for a couple days now and I like it. Once I got it set up with the info I wanted I just use the first 2 pages and then hit review. There are little boxes on the review pages to edit the items so you only go back to the 1 page you need. I list my shipping and payment info in the text of the listing and I adjust it there. I really like the Sell Similar buttons on the items for sale listing. I sell collectibles and host my own pictures so it's handy for me to have all the info there - I just change the areas I need for the new listing. The only problem I've encountered is if you list an item in 2 categories and want the next item in one category only it won't let me eliminate the second one.

I guess I am just as confused as Libra63. I have no idea what 2.0 is about. All of my auctions are set up using AW. Is this something that is going to do away with AW? I usually do 10 to 15 auctions per week. Almost all are collectibles & or china.. I* really don't want to change as I am so used to using AW now after 2 yrs.

I guess nobody knows the answer about AW and 2.0. I will go and ask that quesiton in the AW board below and if I get an answer I will come back and tell you. I also would like to know how they came up with the heading of 2.0 was there a 1.0? Just asking.

I received what I thought was a vague answer to my question so I asked another one and when and if I get an answer to that I will post it here.

Here is the response from AW. Thank Goodness
Thanks for you response but can you tell me if we are going to be able to launch eBay auctions from AW. For us small sellers we depend on AW and I hope that we still will be able to. Thanks again
Hello,
You will definitely be able to do that. I apologize for not making myself more clear on that earlier.

Just to help you figure out the new 2.0, I put together a simple to use instruction manual. Here it is.
English version: _)KI*$%$ED%#WU&&#@$FDG*(O(OL+_P?><#<:P+_{(+}%#ET&^YY(OJUI*()(&.
Here it is in spanish: _)KI*$%$ED%#WU&&#@$FDG*(O(OL+_P?><#<:P+_{(+}%#ET&^YY(OJUI*()(&.
And now in Japanese: _)KI*$%$ED%#WU&&#@$FDG*(O(OL+_P?><#<:P+_{(+}%#ET&^YY(OJUI
Chinese: _)KI*$%$ED%#WU&&#@$FDG*(O(OL+_P?><#<:P+_{(+}%#ET&^YY(OJUI
Germain: _)KI*$%$ED%#WU&&#@$FDG*(O(OL+_P?><#<:P+_{(+}%#ET&^YY(OJUI
I hope this helps you out. I think it make better sense than what ebay has posted about it so far.
