I ALWAYS do, I also tell buyers when I respond to end of auction messages, and I still get people who pay with a credit card!

I do also, It is Clearly in the listing ad, and in my WBN notice, and in with my payment selection on the page when the Buyer choose the payment option and give there mailing address.

BUYERS do NOT read, or they don't care.I end up dening at least 2-4 pymts a week. Then they send payment as listed in the auction.

This is what is in my auctions, Can I make it more clearier??? If so, Tell me.................
Paypal.com payments
will be accepted.email address for payment is [email protected]. {BIG in blue}PLEASE NOTE:{end} Payment must be made with funds that are "IN" your paypal account, or by doing a instant transfer of funds from your bank account, or by doing a echeck. {in red}NO credit cards or bank cards for PP payments will be accepted..{end red}

I simply state - in caps and bold - ONLY NON-CREDIT CARD Paypal payments are accepted.

Easy to read, small words.

I post it in my listing, in my address requested notice, in my total due notice.

I get about 1 person a month that tries to use a credit card.

I try to write so a 4th grader would read it once and understand it.

Do you still have the paypal logo on your auctions? Is there one that doesn't have the pix of the credit cards that they will use automatically? How do ya'll handle this? I went from the low end status (no credit cards) to the high end then back again. Then the next spat of auctions ends and lo and behold 75% of the bidders used their cards. I just threw up my hands and went back to the "give paypal more money" mode. Don't like it but trying to calculate if the hassle is worth the paypal fees.

I do not display the PayPal logo on my auctions.

Selling low end items - I find it is not was to pay PayPal fees.

I do accept credit cards via c2it.com. And have not had any problems in the last 6 months.

I've never really understood the negative press about PayPal in general. I've been selling for about 3 years and have sold about 3,500 items in that time. I would guess that half have been paid with PayPal (almost all by credit card). I've never had a problem or charge back. On the other hand, I've had 4 bounced checks in that time. Also, most people don't realize that people that send you money orders and cashiers checks can do a Stop Payment on those right after they send it to you. I'm not saying that you will never have a charge back with PayPal (my brother did) I just think the benefits (increased sales, faster payment, not having to wait for checks to clear (it's a nightmare trying to keep track of which items have cleared) out weigh the risk. fyi - I charge a handling fee (part of shipping cost) to help offset the fees.

Here is what happened to me and why I posted this thread in the first place.

I was shopping around and found something I wanted. Seller said they accepted money orders, cashiers checks, BidPay and PayPal. No mention about the credit card restrictions. The PayPal logo with all of the credit cards was displayed in the auction. Auction ends and I receive EOA asking for address for shipping. Still no mention that they don't accept credit card payments through PayPal.

When they send me the final total is the FIRST time I see that they do not accept credit card funded payments through PayPal!

I made a special trip to the post office and purchased their money order. I will not be bidding on this seller's auctions again.

Did you send a email to the seller, telling them about this ?????
If not I would. As I would think the same as you did, they accept credit cards threw paypal, and that is how I planed on paying.

Anything in there feedback about this ???
At the very least, it is sneaky and not being upfront with the buyer.

Maybe some buyers don't read, but I would rather have it all in the listing ad, so my terms are upfront, and there are no surprizes for my buyers.{ the ones that do read it, don't have a problem with it.}

Maybe the next time, you should ask the seller ahead of time. Could save you a lot of headaches in the furture, as I am sure there are more sellers doing the same thing, Not right, but you have to saveguard yourself.
Have a good night, and hope the next buy is a better one for you..

OK, I guess I am dumb as a stump. How can you tell if the PayPal transaction was paid for by a credit card or not??

nanntique.....If you have a personal account with paypal, then if you receive a credit card payment you will have to click on "accept" or "deny" for the transaction to complete and to accept it you would have to upgrade your paypal account. As far as other types of paypal accounts (business or premier) I'm not sure how you could tell since all transactions thru these types of accounts are charged a fee.....not just credit card transactions and paypal appears to list all transactions now as "Instant".

Nana -

I have a Premier account, and I have not been able to find where it says Credit Card or Balance/Transfer. I guess maybe I will have to call PayPal and ask them.

I accept all modes of payment via PayPal BUT, recently had a buyer purchase an item illegal in CA, and he was in CA, and when I told him I couldn't ship to CA and that the ad stated such, he got huffy, and said he doesn't read all that stuff at the end of ads....I don't think most folks do, and even when they do, most go right ahead a "try" to do it their way.

Actually I think when a buyer sees the word "PayPal" they think credit cards.....even I would....

Regarding C2it - someone mentioned that to me recently, another seller, but my feeling is - unless the majority of buyers are using it, there is no point in my adding a service that no one uses....and unless all the sellers move somewhere else when eBay takes over PayPal, I guess PayPal will be it....

I don't advertise that I accept paypal and I only do in extreme circumstances. I do however push C2it and use their clickable logo in my auctions and in my emails.

You may think nobody uses them but you are absolutely incorrect. They have several things going for them:

They are Free

They are a real bank

They are Free

They give $5 bonuses for refferals to new accounts. Remember the good old days at paypal when they gave away money? Well I've been getting about $10 a week in C2it bonuses for the past 6 months.

Did I mention they are free?

I have a friend who lists that very information. Checks only, or balance transfer, NO CCS. ALL over his listings. I warned him he may lose bids because it was so, all over the place. He even explained the differences and walked the viewer through Paypal policies. Still he gets customers trying to pay with a CC on Paypal.
