Since it was announced that PayPal will be taken over by eBay - and only the Lord knows what will happen to PayPal after that, I am playing the odds, and CYA, by joining C2IT - it is FREE at the moment, AND also accepts AOL cash – and with all the AOL members, that should be a nice incentive.
PayPal "may" remain the same, but I know how eBay can foul up even the best of things, so I am not going to wait till eBay actually acquires PayPal, to establish another mode of payment. I joined C2IT today to establish it in my auctions as an option along with PayPal, and to make customers more aware of it.
I really like PayPal, but PayPal under eBay, that may very well be total other entity.
I decided the more people who join and use C2IT (backed by City Bank) long BEFORE the PayPal take over, the more established C2IT will be on eBay, and the more customers who will be willing and ready to use it, should eBay totally screw up PayPal.

I have offer c2it for over a year. I receive about 5 payments a week via c2it. The problems are much less in the past 3 months. The first 6 months were a nightmare.
The biggest problem I am still having is the c2it does NOT send an email for every payment you receive. When I get ready to do my shipping I always go to my account and sure enough there is a payment that I was never notified about. That is why I started checking.
The other issue is ALWAYS transfer you payment to YOUR account before shipping. I find this out the hard way too. Just because a payment shows does not mean you can get it. NEVER ship until you are sure you got the payment by doing the transfer.
c2it will pay a seller $5 for each referral. It takes about 2 weeks to get the money and you NEVER know who signed up so do not offer it as an incentive to customers, by saying you will split it with them or something because you don't know who it is for. I have earned over $400 since January on the incentive program.
Some customers still complain about the registration process and do not like giving out the info requested by c2it but others don't say anything about it at all.

C2IT. What a worthless payment service. I tried it for a few months and it was nothing but a pain in the A$$. Very slow site to load--they must be using an antique server. I received one payment successfully and had 3 failed payment attempts that gave up an paypaled me. It is the most cumbersome design for a payment site that I can imagine. Why don't they use paypals format? Then I would use it. And they should upgrade their equipment. A large entity like them should have top of the line. Not at all happy with C2IT.

You see C2IT as slow, as much as I like PayPal, I always plan on a LONG wait between pages there...it is the slowest site I deal with.
Regarding C2IT - I am sure there are growing pains, and I don't intend to "push" it, but have it as an alternative, particularly if eBay totally fouls up PayPal.
I don't like to use financial systems connected with auctions, that why I don’t' use BillPoint (among other reasons). I was totally done in by the Yahoo "PayDirect" system and that taught me quickly not to use a financial system attached to an auction. I don't use BillPoint because I don't have the time to play their little invoice game, among other things.
I imagine we will see C2IT grow in popularity, particularly if eBay messes up PayPal, and I don't particularly care whether anyone uses C2IT or not at the moment, just want it available to those who might wish to, and to have as a back up to PayPal.

i have offered c2it the entire time ive been on ebay. which has not been but maybe 3 or 4 months. i have never had one person even inquire as to how to use it and ive only ever used it twice. it was fairly easy to use. not the best but a good alernative if ebay screws up paypal. which i forsee them doing, or could paypal get any worse only better?

While an alternative to Paypal is badly needed, C2it is not it.
I had difficulty trying to sign up, the website is slow, the anecdotal stories from those that use it in their auctions indicate it is not popular with the users etc. etc.
I for one will not encourage the growth of a second rate payment service. Citibank needs to get a clue. Frankly, we need something more like Paypal, but without the deceptions, arbitrary freezing of accounts without recourse, and poor customer service.
