Just downloaded message from the postmaster from alt.com stating that one cannot dirctly send e-mail to their members anymore due to their attempt to prevent spam. Mentions a pary that I supposedly sent an e-mail to except that I never did and I do not even recognize the address nor is it in my address book. Any suggestions about what this is all about?

Thought it might have been generated by some of my dealings on e-bay since as soon as an auction of mine closes and the EOA notice appears, it is followed by some very weird spam e-mails - the last two of which were probably porno sites. Thanks for enlightening me about what alt.com is because I never heard of it before.

Probably did because according to the postmaster one now has to go through the web site or something to send e-mail but how does it come up that I sent an e-mail to this party? The party's id and address which were given are unknown to me.

Thanks! Now I know I am not alone and it has be be something that has to do with e-Bay. The two e-mails last night( which appeared after the e-Bay EOA notice was downloaded)which I assumed were porn sites with attachments that I attemped to delete immediately without opening came up woth a web site and the information that it could not be opened due the fact that I did not have the neccessary media software or words to that effect. Suspect all this is linked in some way.

Some of these new Trojan tpe program sent as attachments do this now.

when person opens one of these attachments it not only send its self to everyone in the address book but some of them now spoof the sender email address so if you email address is in an infected computer the computer is sending email with your address faked as the sender of the email..

I have recived a few emails from people who write and tell me I have sent them email with a virus attacment how ever my computer is not infected and I don't know who the person is and have never sent email to them.

add to that the fact that I dont allow any addresses to be save in any address book in my computer just incase something ever did find away to sneak in on me.

as well many people got these new trojans then instaled virus program to get rid of it how ever if you already have the virus the scan wont find it the new trojan or virus must be removed before you make your new scanner .
