I was just reading another spam thread and how spam blockers know it's spam because the sent from and the reply to email addresses are different.
While the majority of peolple get my email (I believe - except for AW WBN's...still have trouble with those) I'm wondering if some people don't because they think I'm spam. I use a yahoo account because I want to be able to have access to my email when I travel. I forward that account to outlook express, which has a wi.rr.com email address. So, when I send out emails it looks like this:
From: [email protected]
Reply to: [email protected]

I have tried to just get rid of the Wi.rr.com email address, but outlook express (or outlook - I've tried both) won't let me. I follow the yahoo "pop it" directions to the letter, but I always get error messages in outlook express asking me to enter my password for that account and it rejects it. This way of doing it with 2 accounts is the only one that works. Yahoo has no customer support. I've tried to email them on several occasions, and all they do is send me the same directions over and over again.

edited because I cant spell well - especially early in the morning [ edited by ihula on Aug 4, 2002 07:45 AM ]

at one time I had two email addresses while I was changing ISP servers. I was able to receive email through outlook express for both.

go to Outlook, choose tools from the tool bar and click on accounts. click add and add your yahoo account address

good luck, hope this works for you

E-mail addresses that are yahoo.com, hotmail.com, juno.com, or other "throw-aways" tend to get unread and trashed, regardless of the subject line.

Even eBay and PayPal caution about transacting with buyers/sellers who use "free-mail" addresses.

May not be fair, but that's just the way it is these days.

P.S. Yes, Yahoo is now charging an annual fee for e-mailboxes. I believe it's $29.95 a year or something like that. Hotmail.com is merely a seeding program/service of MicroSquash, so it'll probably hang around for a while. Juno? Who knows?

I thought I was paying $9.95 a year, but I could be wrong. I'm not sure what other service to use. When we went to France I just used an internet cafe' and we could read our email without any problems. It was a lifesaver because we went last minute for a funeral and there were still some auctions that had ended somewhat recently. I don't really have anyone in town that could check my email for me. I have tried to do the configurations on adding another account through outlook express. I still received error messages when I tried to receive any mail. I think outgoing was ok, it was incoming (may have been both). When I send email (except the automated ones from AW) it comes up as [email protected]. So I guess most people are getting them. I just have a few every once in a while that say they aren't receiving my emails and I end up pulling their contact information and calling them.
