Here's the scoop...I have an item up for bid with 5 days left...The one that bid on it has 9 positives and 4 negatives...I don't want to deal with yet another deadbeat bidder and would like to cancel his bid...I don't know if I can do it without getting in trouble with ebay...I looked at ebays cancel bid policy but not clear on whether I can with this scenario or not...The item # is 1849603039 if you'd like to take a look to see the situation...Note: I don't want to cancel the listing, just his bid...If I would cancel his bid would everything return to it's original form on this auction?...Thanks...

You certainly may, and yes it will.
What eBay says is (and I quote verbatim): " Here are a few examples of a legitimate cancellation:"
Note they just say "a few examples" - not that you must have one of those reasons.
By 'return to original form', I suppose you mean you had a buy-it-now. It may take a few minutes, but it will be restored.
I had a bidder from Korea (I think) bid starting bid on an auction, and when I cancelled his bid the auction was like it had begun.
But here's what's gripes me: If those four negs were from four different sellers (and I didn't look - sorry, should have), this buyer shouldn't still be on eBay. Even if they were from three different sellers he'd be o-u-t - if the sellers had followed through with their NPBs and FVFs.
Everyone had rather neg, I guess - gives them more satisfaction. Too much trouble to try to get refunds. But it is the only effective way to get rid of some of these people. Yes, I know they'll come back, but when I see one like this it really irritates me. I file FVF on every deadbeat!
Ed. to add: And btw, in the box where you have to give a reason for your cancellation, simply put "Bidder had too many negatives".
Ed. to add: Btw#2: When you cancel his bid, you will be asked if you want to block the bidder. It's up to you, of course....

Yes 4 were from unique users and rather close to each other. He now has a 5 feedback. I also noticed he hasn't bid since February. You can take a chance and hope someone overbids him or if he is the only bidder let it ride, see if he pays and if he does good for him and if he doesn't bad for him...Good Luck

I had the same thing happen two weeks ago. I quietly blocked him and let his bid ride. My intention was to cancel his bid a few minutes before the auction ended if there were no other bidders. As it turned out, I had 2 other bidders come in after him so it wasn't necessary to cancel his bid.
The light at the end of the tunnel will turn out to be an oncoming train.

If you are not comfortable as you state, then cancel the bid and block the bidder. One thing you need to know now is you will not be able to edit your auction even after you remove this bidder. There have been times I have done this and then wanted to edit an auction (to correct a mistake or add to a description ect) and the system will not allow it once a bid has been placed even after cancelling the bid. You may however add to the description but you have to jump through hoops to do it.
Thanks for your opinion...On your #2 point I can't dispute your logic, But on #1, after 6 months of positve feedbacks he's due to screw somebody, and it ain't gonna be me!!...#3, He's left positive feedback for sellers, but no comments on the negatives he's gotten, which leads me to believe they're valid...#4, I may get a higher bidder but who knows for sure...Thanks for chimeing in...

I think what's interesting in his 'feedback left' stats is there are no retaliatory negs, and there are several completed transactions where he gave sellers good feedback and received none.
One other thing. He got 4 negs for non-payment, but if four NPB had been filed on him wouldn't he have been NARU'd?
You can dig back as far as you like on this guys feedback to the sellers he bought from, and the sellers non feedback for him...The fact is the guy's a habitual non-payer and I'm not going to deal with him, period...I cancelled his bid, and blocked him from bidding on my auctions...End of story...

How is blocking a bidder any different from a big corporation rejecting your application for credit? If your pay history makes them nervous, they turn you down. Think about - you can apply for car loans, cc's, and store cards, etc. They have all the freedom in the world to turn you down.
How much more do independant sellers need to be careful of potential deadbeat bidders than big corps who make billions per year and have lawyers/collectors on staff?
On the fip side, if a seller's FB sends me bad signals; I don't bid. What's the difference. It is not bad or rude.
