Just started selling on ebay, though I've been a buyer on and off since 1998. Always been very conciencous about leaving feedback to the folks I buy from and as a new seller, everyone gets feedback as soon as the item is in the mail.

I recently finished a group that ended with 13 individuals winning and all items were shipped. Of those 13 people, only 5 have left feedback and less that half have even acknowledged receiving their packages. Is this the sort of results I can continue to expect? Kind of depressing.

Yep ... that seems to be my ratio ... but some people pop in 2 months later and leave the feedback [positive].

I am not sure what my ratio is, but since I stopped leaving feedback when the payement arrived, and sent the message "I will mail your package today. Would you let me know when it arrives please, I will leave you positive feedback at that time" it has definately gone up, of course I never hear from some, but I still leave feedback after about 6 weeks, and some people kindly let me know it's arrived, but never leave feedback. As soon as they tell me it's arrived, I leave them feedback, and tell them so. I really think it helps.

My feedback ratio means nothing to me. But remember they have 90 days to leave feedback and some wait until the very end. I know feed back is important especially to the new buyers and sellers and I leave feed back to everyone of my transactions. If they don't give it back that is fine with me.

As a seller I leave feedback when paid or when I ship. 59% have returned feedback.

As a buyer I leave feedback when I receive the item provided the seller left feedback. My feedback left/returned ratio with buyer accounts are 1:1

I use two accounts. My buyers account fb from sellers is close to 95%. My sellers account is roughly 60%. I think I did 20-30 sales before I got FB number 1!

Seems that if you leave feedback only when you get feedback, it has to be 1:1.

I mostly sell, and request the buyer to email me on arrival. If they do that, or do it via feedback, I post theirs. I have received 305 positives and given 371 (81%).

I have a high enough feedback rating these days that I honestly don't care anymore if people leave it or not. However, I can understand your concern if you are a new seller.

I guess I get about 80 percent return. I leave feedback after receiving payment. I always email the buyer that I have received payment & am shipping their purchase & I have left feedback. Seems to work for me.

I recalculated my ratio. I remember this coming up before and I thought I was doing very well in the exchange. My earlier post was figuring with just my unique feedback number, if I take into account repeat buyers feedback my ratio is 85%.

I simply include this sentence in my packing slip note.

"I've left feedback on your eBay account so others may know of your integrity, I hope you'll return the gesture if satisfied."

My buyer accounts feedback ratio still calculates at 1:1 and it'll remain there too. I've trusted the seller with my money, I figure he can trust me with leaving feedback first. If not... no problemo.

I do the same as a lot of other people. I leave feedback when the payment arrives. I tell them the payment arrived, I'll ship it out today and I'll leave positive feedback. I also enclose a card in the package saying "Thanks for bidding. Please email me if you have any questions or problems with your purchase." (It includes my seller ID and email address). I get about a 60% ratio, and about 20% of the people email me and tell me it arrived. I'm also to the point where I don't mind if they don't leave feedback, although I'm getting to 5000 and my "reward" to myself is a DVD recorder when I get that next star - hopefully by Christmas.

I leave feedback as soon as payment arrives (Only 1 check has bounced in 6 years, and they made good on the check, the long distance phone calls, and the paypal fees to pay when all was said and done). I don't really keep track of who leaves feedback for me. After you are +100 or so, it doesn't really matter anyhow. Now I am +800, with 3 negs (all deserved, 2 for buying and 1 for selling... long stories).

If you take care of your customers, they will take care of you. Don't worry so much about the number. It will take care of itself.

FOR THOSE WHO LEAVE IT WHEN YOU GET THE PAYMENT,,,,IT AIN'T OVER UNTIL THEY GET IT AND WHEN THEY GET IT AND THEY DON'T LIKE IT AND JUST NEG YOU,,,,YOU FIGURE IT OUT,,,,AWE,,,,I'LL SAY IT ANYWAY,,,,YER SCREWED.

WHAT IF IT'S LOST IN THE MAIL, SQUASHED, ETC. YOU ALREADY SAID THANKS,THEIR GONNA SAY,,,,,THIS WAS JUNK OR I WAS RIPPED OFF.....IF I FOLLOWED THAT ADVICE, AS A SELLER GIVING IT FIRST,,,,,THE IDIOT THAT SAID HIS "ITEM" NEVER ARRIVED AND NEGGED ME,,,,,WHERE WOULD I HAVE GONE? NOWHWERE, THEAT'S WHERE. HE NEGGED ME AND "NOW" I CAN NEG HIM BACK, WHICH I RITCHIOUSLY DID, UPS NUMBER,,,123456789,,,,STATUS,,,DELIVERED!!

HE HAS NEVER BOUGHT OR SOLD ANYTHING AGAIN. HE HAD 4 NEGS 36 POS. AS A SELLER, ANYONE CAN LOOK THAT UPS NUMBER ANYTIME THEY DESIRE. AT FIRST I E MAILED THE MORON AND CALLED HIM EVERY NAME IN THE BOOK,,,,,THEN A WEEK LATER I REALIZED THAT WAS THE BEST NEG I COULD HAVE EVER GOT AND THANKED HIM FOR BOOSTING MY HONESTY AND INTEGRITY. NEVER HEARD FROM THE FOOL.

NEVER AS A SELLER GIVE IT FIRST. THATIS INSANE. BUT WHATEVER WORKS. JUST WAIT,,THE IDIOT "WILL" SHOW UP,,SOONER OR LATER. SMOE NEWBEE.

2 CENTS,,,,HAHAHAHA,,,,THAT WAS MORE LIKE A BUCK.

I WRITE WHIF A KRAYON, I AM ALMOST 5.

I'm sure caffetalia will be along soon to claim I am extorting feedback, but since I started leaving feedback after my customers do, my ratio is 1:1 as well.

Before that, it was 3:1
