I use USPS cause its near and convenient compared to FX & UPS. I dont ship alot either so unscheduled pickup charges and franchise counter charges offset USPS PM. But I also have some auctions that I use a fixed S&H clearly noted in listing. I expect the buyer to pay that amount. Depending on the zone, it may be more or less than the actual shipping. And when I cant use a USPS PM box, I cant package anything for less than $2-3.
Well I got one buyer who insisted paying less than the fixed S&H via billpoint. How should I respond?

How can you say you use a fixed rate if it varies? I suppose it's fixed per each zone and you have clearly stated in your auction what the charge is for each zone. In that case you have 2 choices. Stick to your guns and accept the rate posted or compromise.

bestatic, I mis-spoke. On these items (identical in size & weight) I charge a fixed $10 shipping and $3 packaging sent via USPS PM antwhere in the US. This is ckearly stated in the listing. Actual USPS shipping costs will vary depending on the destination. Some times I loose on shipping sometimes I gain. I just fine the AW auto WBN difficult to use without prefixed shipping.

If your buyer is in the same zone or a nearby one and you know that you overdid it on shipping, I'd negotiate. If the shipping is spot on, I'd stick to my guns.
If you truly use $3.00 in packing materials, make sure you point this out to your buyer, explaining your committment to ensuring the item(s) get to them safely.
