I was curious if anyone promoted their auctions outside of ebay (besides getting lucky with a bid). Like classifieds on the net... anything??? What do you do to drive business towards your auctions?

I did for years, but haven't in the last year, and seem to sell about the same. When AOL allowed posting of auctions in their collectible areas, I posted there, and it did drive in traffic, but they stopped that a year or so ago.
I'd be curious if anyone is doing anything special, although, I suppose if I were a seller who knew the secret, I wouldn't tell, as it would be rather self defeating.
Sort of like asking a seller who their wholesalers are! Don't expect an answer to that one either.

I don't know what your volume in auction sales are but I have noticed in the Krause newsletter that at he bottom of the page is an ad for an antique dealers Me page on Ebay. It comes out twice a week and I think it is $25.00 an issue to have your URL displayed. The ad has been running for awhile so I assume it is effective and probably worth it for a high volume seller.

Well, I'm not an antiques dealer.
I was just curious. I figured we all sold different things, so we really wouldn't be hurting each other's business.
I use to put ads on AOL when they had message boards to promote auctions & stuff.

Actually, I'm considering advertising in the local (neighborhood) daily papers. They have a rapidly growing circulation.
(It's kind of amusing that the big traditional metro newspapers, like the Murky News and the Comical, are dying but the local rags are going like a house afire.)
The idea with advertising though is that you really need to focus it, otherwise it's money flushed down the loo.
The local dailies here are read in all the restaurants and coffee houses by the young adult working population...which is mainly who buys my stuff.
You could buy Google keywords. "antiques" is probably too vague, though, and I noticed last night that eBay itself has purchased thousands of Google keywords. I wouldn't be surprised if eBay buys Google. It makes perfect sense.
