Thanks for letting us know. But won't that be confusing for the user who has the ebay ID "secondchance"?

secondchance can now offer a second chance.

I used the new feature last night on a NARUed buyer.
There was no place to type any kind of explanation or correspondence. The seller has to chose from a short list of reasons why the offer is being made ( NARUed buyer is not on the list ).
New feature should close a few loopholes that cost ebay revenues.

THE BOTTOM LINE SOLUTION ,,,,,,GO TO THE E MAIL ADDRESS OF THE BIDDER ON HIS FEED BACK PAGE, FROM THERE YOU CAN COMMUNICATE DIRECTLY. DON'T HIT SECOND CHANCE,,,UNLESS OF COURSE YOU WANT TO. I GUESS THAT IS UP TO THE SELLER.

It's a second chance for ebay to get its final value fee.

Hell I've been doing this for a long time, just like JSWebb says. Who needs ebay when the top bidder reneges?

Sounds to me like it works exactly just like "personal offer" worked, only with a different name. I've used "personal offer" many times and its worked great for me.

Personal Offer works great when bidding goes higher than expected, and you have multiple items to sell. A couple of weeks ago I sold two $6.98 CDs for $31 and $30. Personal Offer is free, and you don't have to use it if you don't want to. I don't like the new name though. 'Sounds like, "last chance." D'oh!

I never used Personal Offer but I just used the Second Chance thingie. It doesn't appear to be just a simple name change. Second Chance sets up the closed auction just like it had been relisted by the seller but the only persons that can actually view it are the seller and those that are offered the Second Chance. Only one bidder at a time can be offered the SC and after 3 days the next bidder can be offered it, etc. Since the Second Chance is setup exactly like a closed auction if the bidder accepts it is open to feedback exchange, etc. just like a regular closed auction. This setup may be more acceptable to many buyers than the informal Personal Offer.
