I'm not sure where the problem lies but I had auctions end on Thursday and the End of Auction notices from eBay & payal are still slowly arriving - 2 days later! They used to arrive in my inbox immediately - anyone else noticing this?

The message I recieved this morning from paypal was dated Thursday. It's been tough as now I have to check both my paypal account and eBay to see who has paid, insead of getting an email letting me know. I'm wondering if the buyers are getting notices late too? I hope this is temporary!

I've had trouble sending mail to Hotmail accounts for the better part of a week now ~ most of them eventually bounce back. Don't know what's going on ~~~

Put on 6 auctions last night @ 11:30. 3 of them sold with BIN before 7:00 AM today. Didn't receive confirmation notice that the auction was in until 11:44 AM, 12 hrs after the auction started & 4 hrs. after it was sold!! 3 of the auctions were sent almost immediately after 11:30 PM

Waitaminit -- you're using HOTMAIL to communicate with buyers?

Ever think there might be a reason it's FREE?

I've been communicating with buyers for 2-1/2 years via hotmail. I have 100% positive feedback in this time. No problems at all relating to hotmail until about a week ago so why would I have switched? But, if this problem does continue, I'll have to.

Lets change the theme here to...what email service can you recommend that is reliable and how much $ a month?

Forget AOL, juno, yahoo and hotmail.

With the latter three, you get what you pay for. With AOL, you *don't* get what you pay for. It's disaster either way.

The best Internet service provider is likely to be someone local or regional. Failing that, try Earthlink. You will have to pay for it, but I have successfully gotten good support from Earthlink in the past, which I could never say about AOL.

My ISP is a regional company located in the SF Bay Area. I get excellent service, 100 POP mailboxes, tons of disk space, my own domain, my business home page and lots more for just $24.95 a month. They do backups, too, which is the dirty little secret of the services I disrecommended (if they have a server crash, they can't recover your email...it's GONE.)

I switched to Hotmail when Excite@home went under and AT&T switched us all over to their new and "wonderful" attbi.com. During the change over I lost my e-mail completely for several days. I switched to Hotmail so that I could access my e-mail account from any computer using any browser and communicate with my buyers. ( Seems eBay had no sympathy for those of us who got switched and said that unless e-mail addresses stayed current and viable I would be NARUed so the switch became pretty much mandatory. ) I have had zero problems with Hotmail and haven't noticed any problems of late with Hotmail delaying my e-mail. On the other hand, attbi.com does seem to have a resident gremlin that sends my e-mail off into cyber space on a fairly regular basis.

Fluffy; I am on MSN, which connects me to hotmail. I have no problems with anybody or thing, except eBay. Thats why I am sure it is not hotmail that is delying the messages.

I had some auctions end this a.m. and received all notices promptly. I'm hoping all is well now!

I don't which email system is the best, but I can tell you for sure that the eBay system is the worst. Imagine not being allowed to communicate directly with a seller!

I wouldn't use Hotmail for any important email. I use it as my junk email address for sites that require registration (such as AW, news services etc.).

Yeah, Reamond, that's what I use Yahoo for.

These sites are perfect for that sort of thing.

But serious business-related email? Get real. What if you're sued someday and have to produce email you didn't print out?

I've been trying to reach a customer now for over a week through his Hotmail account...keep getting messages returned as "nondeliverable...mailbox full"...Just a day ago, got a message FROM him wanting to know how much he owes and where to send it. Will try another day or two but then it's a phone call, I guess.

The mailbox "full" rejection is another problem with Hotmail. Hotmail has the worst spam problem that I've ever seen. I think Hotmail must be selling spam rights on their system.

You also have to go through each email and check it off to delete them. I wish there was a way to dump the whole inbox because it is all spam. I actually have more spam delivered while I am deleting all the spam.
