I recently sold an electric guitar. I do ship internationally, and have in my TOS to email me for shipping quote. The man is in Australia, and emailed me for a quote. I looked on the USPS website, and they won't ship it because it's over 42" long. That is exactly what I told him - Sorry, I don't think I can ship it to you. Well, he bid anyway and won (he was the only bidder). He emailed me back and gave me some phone numbers to look into Frieght shipping it for him. The freight company (which is 1-1/2 hours away from me - can't find any near me) told me it would be way too expensive and to try UPS. UPS wants to charge $312.00. Any other suggestions on where to look? I tried the Fed-ex website, and they don't recognize his "zip code", so I'll either have to package it up and take it to Fed-ex for a quote or assume that they don't deliver to that area. I wish I could just cancel the whole thing, but he really wants this guitar for whatever reason.

You don't say what the weight is, but assuming 25 lbs., the rate to Australia is $178.34. This is FedEx International Economy Rate. The manual says nothing about zip codes for international shipments. Call 800-247-4747 for transit times & more information.

Thanks for the phone number. I called them. It actually only weighs 13 pounds, but the box measurements are 48" by 19" by 10". He gave me the quote of $311.20 for economy fed ex and $372.99 for Fed Ex Priority. Oh, how I really want to relist and forget about it!

He is paying the freight - it's the surprises that I'm worried about. I don't usually ship expensive items overseas (I don't sell many expensive items). Is a money order the only way I should accept payment or is paypal ok?

No paypal!!
Bidpay is a money order. It is safe for you.
I would let them know if insurance is not possible due to cost, the risk is theirs.
