I am planning to order some small appliances and electronics to sell and have heard the stories about buyers doing the "old switcheroo". What do you use to mark your items that doesn't look noticeable (something under blacklight for example) and do you put in your auctions that you did it or just casually mention it if they are planning a return?

Depending upon the device. I would presume most would have a S/N on them. I would copy the S/N onto both the purchasers & my copy of the shipping invoice.

I would advise the buyer (when sending shipping notification) that the S/N of the device had been recorded for my personal inventory purposes.

I also would not announce this policy in the TOS.
