I was suspended for being a previously suspended user, for which I had extenuating financial circumstances. This was over a year ago, and the punishment far exceeded what the crime was, which amounted to nothing more than me having a hot temper and acting without thinking.

I faxed a sworn statement with the form ebay has that I would never break another rule, along with a two page note explaning my circumstances as to why I needed to re-register after being suspended. This whole thing has just been one big misunderstanding, right from the get go. Also, several of my former customers and sellers have written to ebay on my behalf, vouching for my integrity.

I was wondering if anyone had any advice as to if there is anything else I can do to help my cause?

Buy some Ebay Shares and become a Stockholder, they ask them as a shareholder

suspended for being suspended??
i am afraid ebay does not find this humorous!
get a new id,new phone, new address, new bank account, new cc and start all over.
do you have any relative or loved one who live away from you,say your mom who always offer unconditional love, unlike EBAY.

Thanks but I was actually hoping for some helpful, constructive information. I do not want to start over with a false identity, I want my original account restored.

I'm following all the advice I was given, however if anyone had any experience with this and could offer me additional constructive advice I would be grateful.

IF YOU HAVE BEEN SUSPENDED TWICE AND IT HAS BEEN OVER A YEAR,IT SOUNDS LIKE THIS IS PERMANENT SUSPENSION and they just dont want you around anymore.
you can look into yahoo, amzn and coming soon aol.

I think that your chances are between slim & hopeless. If you are married, try in your wife's name & a new bank acct. & credit card in her name.

If you follow any of the suggestions above, remember you cannot post auctions from the same computer or the same internet server. From previous postings on the board they often suspend everyone in the same household, and often relatives outside it if someone is kicked off.

If you were suspended the second time for setting up another account after being suspended I think you may have trouble getting back on ebay now.

Sending the letters that you have and trying to convince ebay that you are sincere in your desires to follow the rules is about the best thing that you can do.

If you don't hear back from them the only thing I can think of is that you find another seller and consign your inventory to them and they sell it for you.

Or find a partner that handles the ebay listings in his name on his account and you work behind the scenes. Have an agreement with him about sharing the work, costs, profit, etc.

It sounds like ebay will not reinstate you, ever. It's a lost cause trying to get back that account. Changing your ISP provider or requesting a new IP address from your ISP provider if you have a permanent IP address will allow you to register a new account on that computer. Using a relative's credit card info and address will get you started and you can change the address later. You can also get a PO Box for the billing address. With 50+ million accounts ebay will probably never know you had a suspended account.

Try changing your name to, say, Scruggie Mohammed, get a new credit card, move to a new address and change your ISP. Oh, and get your fingerprints changed.

The only alternative is to put a severed horse's head in Meg's bed.

So what were you suspended for in the first place?

Can a leopard change its spots?

dont forget the phone number.
can you do this at work at lunch time.
i would say the suggestion of using another seller and consign your stuff is the best.

In response to "can a leopard change its spots" -

the reason I got a permenant suspension is because I lost my temper over a 14 day suspension over a supposed feedback extortion that never happened.

I blew up at the safeharbor rep, didn't even realize I had an auction listed under another id, and was "indefinetely suspended" for that infraction.

TWo weeks later the account that had the feedback violatin charge was reinstated so I thought all was well.

However about a year later my main account was suspended for being associated with a previously suspended user.

So, exactly how should this leopard change its spots?

I had all most the same problem . This is what I did. Every day 2 or 3 times a day I faxed them all the information they wanted. Over and over again around 20 pages. It took around 6 weeks before the right person picked up the paper work and now I am back on ebay. GOOD LUCK!!

Thank you for the helpful advice - that's actually a really good idea.

I've already sent in an official appeal, and I've sent a fax to Rob Chestnut as well, who is the head of trust & safety.

Is there anyone in particluar that you sent the fax to, or did you just use the general number? I faxed both the numbers in San Jose and Utah, but not to anyone in particular.

Skruggie, how long did it take for you to get reinstated the first time suspension? I commisserate with you, the suspensions seem arbitrary, and because you lost your cool with an employee doesn't make it okay for them to suspend permanently so quickly. But, Ebay is a private organization, and they are the worst at producing power hungry minions. Please keep us updated.

They should really go after the bastard who sold me a magazine subscription that never came!

That's what was really weird about this whole thing, after my initial suspension, they reinstated one of my accounts after two weeks.

So how was I supposed to know that everything was not okay? Obviously now I know that it wasn't, but the way the whole thing went down just wasn't fair. Granted I made mistakes, but I didn't hurt anyone and I apologized more times than I can count.

I have spoken to a few customer service reps about this and they all seem to think I have a good chance for reinstatement, I just need to give it a little time for my fax to get processed I guess. One thing I know for certain, when I do finally get this cleared up I will never break another rule again!

Well, I understand that feeling too, but a person can only be so careful. I didn't even mean to bend any rules, or I would feel okay that I got suspended.

They cannot be privy to every nuance of a dispute, or judge who is right or wrong fairly due to the effort it would take. But, neither can a user be expected to understand every single rule of ebay.

It took two whole weeks to get reinstated the first time? I've heard it's 30 days, so I suppose that should be good news?

When you say spoken to a representative, do you mean on the phone? Can I have that number?

Just to follow up, I wanted to let those of you know who have been following this that all three of my original accounts were reinstated this morning.

Thanks so much for those of you that offered legitimate advice. As far as I'm concerned, ebay really does care and they really do want to do what's right.

I have a new appreciation for the organization and I won't be taking my second chance for granted.
