I had a buyer win an auction a couple of weeks ago, emails keep coming back invalid. They have 86 positive feedback up to then. I checked this morning, and they now have 4 negs for not being able to reach them. Surely when you win an aution, mine was with BIN you KNOW you won, why don't you contact the seller?? I realize that if you don't use eBay frequently, you can forget to change your email address, but if you keep bidding on auctions and never get a response, you must realize something is wrong. I hate to neg someone like that who has had a perfect record. What would you do?

Report it to eBay at the following link. eBay will NARD them for not maintaining correct contact information.
http://pages.ebay.com/help/basics/select-RS.html
In box 1, select Member problems
In box 2, select Contact information...
In box 3, select either False or missing /
invalid e-mail (which ever is appropriate).
Click the "Continue" button.
Scroll to the bottom of the next page and click the "Contact Support" button.
Enter the >other< member's ID and give your
reasons.
I always send the information from the bounching email message. I sent one this morning that said:
----- Transcript of session follows -----

I forgot to mention to keep a check to see if the customer comes up as unregistered. If so you can file FVF as soon as you file NPB without waiting.

As far as leaving a negative goes, why leave one as you have nothing to gain. Just do your part reporting invalid contact information, file FVF and move on.
A negative will not hurt them at all, but FVF and reporting the bouncing email will.

This looks like a good example of why you SHOULD leave a neg. It would be a big help to other sellers to see the recent neg info on this person.
As B,. Franklin said, " We must all hang together, or we will surely hang separately."

It sounds like none of the 4 sellers that left negatives bother to contact ebay over the invalid email address. If only one of them would have done so the buyer would have been NARU'ed within one day.

Have you checked to see if there is a valid phone number? Maybe the poor fool is moving or something like that. Leaving a neg won't get you a payment.

I just had an invalid email and I notifed eBay through the link mentioned above and the person has not been NARU'd yet. The persons last activity as far as buying something was more than 6 months ago. I'll give it a few more days and then leave the neg.

I did get the contact information, but I live in Canada, and don't want to make the long distance call to the U.S. I was hoping that a new email address would come up, but there is no email address listed on contact info.

Long distance phone calls can get expensive. I can easily not see what is happening that way you will not go though life and wonder about it.
The very best thing to do when you repeatedly get a bad email address from a buyer is to contact ebay about it. They will temporarily suspend the account until the ebay user can update their info. The user will not be able to leave an unwarrented negative feedback because they were waiting and never received an email from the seller.
