EbayUpdates.com - Watch Out...
Posted on Monday, December 09 @ 07:39:06 EST by john
Ebay (an non-Ebay) users have been getting this e-mail from "EBay Billing" with the subject of "EBay Billing Error". The text of the e-mail follows as well as the routing path. Further, a visit to the site that is refrenced in the email leads to a page that is javascript encoded. Right click is disabled to prevent saving of the page. An inspection of the source would also indicate that the creators of the page do not want users to see where their information is going. Finally, the WHOIS database entry for "ebayupdates.com" and states that the registrants were not eBay corporate but someone in Florida. This is a farily large scale attempt at gathering eBay users account and/or credit card information.

I actually got one of these too. I can't believe people are stupid enough to fill out a form that requests address, credit card info, social security info. Why don't they just sign away their firstborn. People are idiots to fall victim to this sort of scam. I guess scamming is a good business. Lots of money, probably very light penalties. Esp. if you are conducting business from some far away 3rd world country.
