they say :
listing is in violation of eBay policy
In this listing, you are offering multiple items as a "choice," allowing bidders to choose from a selection of items.
and this is text from item desciption they claim is in violation with ebay policy :
Buy MORE paintings & save on shipping!

I think somebody read the "wide selection" part too fast. You might want to change that and add "we are listing many", or something on that order.

That's really interesting. At first I thought it was a violation "fee avoidence" but your pointing customers to the Ebay store so then I would say it's not a violation. You might want to expand the offer.
"Buy MORE paintings through our Ebay Store & save on shipping! Items available in the Ebay Store include:..........."
I sell art work also and there is an issue when a customer wants additional art, a frame or custom mat for the auction item. What I suggest, when a customer is interested, is post the option on ebay with a "buy it now" button and have the customer complete the second auction then Ebay gets their fee.
I would contact Ebay and ask for clarification on this one it sure looks okay in my mind.

glebinac - Just to clarify....did you show in your pictures more than one item and if so did you say anything along the line of "any of these for the same price"?
On the links...I believe you can have a link that directs a buyer to your about me page, that then links to your store.

No, on each auction there is only single image with ONLY ONE painting displayed. On some auction closer details are displayed but that is clarified as "DETAILS OF PAINTING"
LINDA K WROTE n the links...I believe you can have a link that directs a buyer to your about me page, that then links to your store. END OF QUOTE
I HAVE DISPLAYED LINK TO MY EBAY STORE (that is not web site store) and that link is allowed on ebay auction listings.

I could see that as a keyword spamming violation - perhaps the SH rep pushed the wrong key for the reason code??

Keyword spamming if you auction the products on ebay? I would also like some clarification when you sell items on Ebay that are related to the auction item listing. Anyone have the Ebay rule on "keyword Spamming"?
posted on December 12, 2002 01:15:45 PM new
I can't find anything on Ebay regarding "Keyword" spamming but I did post to this list today regarding Ebays Spam update and it only refers to email spam.
Keywords in an auction help drive customers to your auction when they are searching for a specific item. Are you saying I can't use the words "Blue and Green"? Similar to Van Gogh in style? Comes with frame hardware, screws etc?
Is SH really the Keyword Spam Police?<G>
I think I would go to bat for this seller as listing her auction correctly. Ebay is stretching on this one.
if that link doesn't work it says:
Key Word Spamming
You may not be aware of this but "key word spamming" is not allowed on eBay. Often times sellers are not aware that the way in which they have created their listing, or described their item results in key word spamming. Learn more about our policy by reading below.
What is key word spamming? Key word spamming is the practice of including brand names or other "key words" for the purpose of gaining attention or diverting users to a listing. Key word spamming is unfair to members who may be searching for a specific item and receive search engine results of listings which are not selling the item. It is also a manipulation of our search engine. Users often are confused and frustrated by such tactics. Certain uses of brand names may also constitute trademark infringement and could expose sellers to legal liability.
eBay Policy on Key Word Spamming.
Excessive use of key words, including (but not limited to) brand names, which are referenced for the purpose of attracting or diverting buyers to a listing is considered key word spamming and is not permitted.
Here are some examples of key word spamming that are not permitted:
Lists of Words. (1.) The inclusion of words that are simply listed to attract viewers via our search engines and are not part of a context based item description. For example, it would not be permissible to state the following in your item description: "oil reproductions, art recreations, gallery, art gallery, impressionist, impressionism, oil paintings, reproduction, painting, recreation, copy, quality, reproductions, recreations, realistic, copies, paintings, old masters, replica, posters, prints, video..." (2.) The inclusion of words that are simply listed to divert viewers to your other eBay items. For example, it would not be permissible to state "Please view my other eBay listings for Beanie Babies, vintage Barbies, Rolex watches, and Chanel scarves." It would be acceptable to state "Please click here to view my other eBay listings."
Hidden Text. HTML included in the listing, such as hidden text (for example "white on white" or source tags (meta or header tags) are not permitted.
Drop Down Boxes. Inclusion of a drop down box in order to provide buyers with a list of items offered in other listings. Because the search engine will pick up words listed within the box, this interferes with the search results, and is thus not permitted. As an alternative, sellers may include drop down boxes on their About Me pages, as this would not interfere with the search engine.
Related to the key word spamming issue is the use of brand names in your title or description. Please bear in mind that the following will also not be permitted:
Extra Brand Names in Title. Any use of a trademarked (brand) name in the title of a listing where products of that brand name are not being offered.
Not This, Not That. A title or description for a listing that reads, for example: "Gucci Purse (not Louis Vuitton, Armani, Prada)"; or "I also sell Gap, Nike, Gucci, Rolex, etc."; or "Please see my other listings for Beanie Babies, Pokemon and Star Wars items."

And here's the one for Inappropriate Links....hope this helps.
Inappropriate Links – Improper use of links in a seller's listing
The eBay item page can only be used to describe, promote and facilitate the sale of the listed eBay item - it cannot refer to or promote the seller's individual web site, off eBay sales or other businesses.
Policy: These types of listings are not permitted and will be ended. The insertion fee will be automatically credited for that listing.

Also, when I searched for 'choice auctions' I saw this. Maybe this is what ebay is referring to??????
Dutch Avoidance - Seller lists a single items but offers multiple items.
Dutch Avoidance – Seller lists a single items but offers multiple items
Dutch avoidance is the act of listing a single item and offering additional identical items for sale in the item description. In these situations, the seller typically instructs buyers to indicate the number of items they want, and states that they can get the same price as the item in the listing.
Policy: Items found to be in violation of this guideline may be ended. The insertion fee will be automatically credited for that listing.

Tried to get the section about 'choice auctions' to come up....but there is an error and it took me [twice] to a different page.
Here's a link for anyone interested to save so you can search for almost any issue you need to know more about. It's called eBay Help:Basics http://pages.ebay.com/help/basics/
Now....I'll stop 'spamming' your thread. Just trying to help so you can see if any of these might apply in your case.

WOOOOW! Amazing..so if somebody really have and want to sell "REALISTIC OIL PAINTING MADE BY OLD MASTER" it is not allowed?
Maybe instead of that he should give this kind of title? :
"STUPID GAS SOMETHING MADE BY OLD CREEP"
OK - I WILL LIST BACWARDS - IT IS NOT LISTED AS NOT ALLOWED LOOOL

Don't You think ebay policy is too restricted already? Now we are not allowed to write what we should write in titles and descriptions.
IF MY PAINTING IS PAINTING THAN IT IS PAINTING!
IF MY PAINTING IS RED THAN IT IS RED!
IF MY PAINTING IS AN ABSTRACT THAN IT IS AN ABSTRACT!
IF MY PAINTING IS AN ORIGINAL THAN IT IS AN ORIGINAL!
IF MY PAINTING IS RELATED TO CERTAIN STYLE THAN IT IS.
SO, my title will look like this :
ORIGINAL ABSTRACT PAINTING RED CERTAIN STYLE
NO ONE CAN TELL ME THAT IS KEYWORD SPAMMING!
From now on i will paint bushes in desert - perhaps than ebay will email me " don't mention president's name in your listings , it violates ebay policies keyword spamming"
