Here is a clown with 11 retracted bids and 0 transactions. He wins auctions and then sends an email that the shipping is too high (shipping is clearly stated in the auction at $3 or $5 for priority). Of course I can neg and then get negged back which will ruin my perfect rating. He will just come back under another fake ID and go it again. An AOL ID does not require credit card registration and we all know how easy they are to get. Ebay should refund ALL fees when clowns like this are allowed on the site. It's not the amount of money, it's the principal. Ebay doesn't mind that there are clowns like this around, since they make money anyway.

Try to get a free AOL account. For the last 2 or 3 years now you need either a valid credit card or valid checking account info. The AOL ebayers use to be amoongst the worst because the accounts were so easy to get and play games with but now they are almost all great ebayers. There are still a few old free AOL ebay accounts but they are getting rare.

Since I have no intention of installing that lousy software on my machine, I won't try, but I do know that the last few AOL CDs sent to me said "no credit card needed." I also think that if you have an AOL account, you can change your email address numerous times. So he can be [email protected] one day and [email protected] the next day and ebay will let him keep signing on with new IDs over and over. The bottom line is that sellers who want to stay on ebay have to watch their ratings while scammers don't, so the whole rating system stinks because my neg to him has no impact while his neg to me does. For the lousy 11 cents, I won't even bother jumping through ebay's hoops. So he will continue to bid and retract because ebay doesn't care.

That's right, no credit card is needed. You'll have to use your valid checking account to get an account. Here's a copy n' paste from AOL
Offer is available to new members in the U.S., age 18 or older, and a major billing method is required.
