I have wondered about getting the Paypal debit card. Does anyone have any thoughts on this card. Has anyone out there had a bad experience with it. Thanks in advance.

No bad experience, it is nice to get that 1.5% cash back...also very quick access to paypal money...

I did have a company (bidville actually) do a charge they were not supposed to do, it was VERY easy to contact paypal and have them reverse the charge.

I agree with the 1.5% cash back. It may seem minimal but it really eases the fees Paypal charges. I like that I can go to the store, buy some gum and withdraw $300+ (maximum) from the account instantly. There are no ATM fees and no waiting 3+ days for a bank transfer.

The only issues I have had are that returns aren't credited immediately--they remaim "pending" for a few days.

I once tried to buy gas with it as an ATM (station doesn't take credit) and the card was denied as being an invalid card. When I got home, I realized that the station has put a $75 hold on my Paypal account and didn't release the funds for five days.

Otherwise, I love it! Use it everyday at the Post office.

I love the cash back feature as well. Every little bit helps.

Some things I've found that were quickly corrected with a phone call to Paypal:

1. Gas stations routinely submit for $35.00 or $50.00 before they let you fill up, just to make sure your card gets accepted. If the gas is only $25.00, sometimes both charges show up (the test run and the actual) - the test run goes away within a week unless you call Paypal and they will remove it ASAP

2. Restaurants - For some reason restaurant charges show up twice for me. This has happened to me several times at different restaurants. Now I use it, come home check my account and make a quick call if a fix is needed.

To get the 1.5% cash back you have to use it as a credit card, no PIN. It's a good deal.

I've only had my debit card for a couple of weeks but not having to wait for transfers and the the cash back bonuses from the post office are great. I also use it to purchase items that I sell and get the rebate on them as well.

Can I check my balance at an ATM just like my regular card? And, is it always the case that the transfer takes a couple of days to go from your regular paypal account to the debit account?

To get the rebate do you have to get rid of the Bidpay banner on your ads?

Your PayPal account and your debit account are the same thing. When you use the card it removes the funds directly from your PayPal account.

As for the Bidpay - you do have to click that PayPal is yoour only online credit card payment source but I'm not sure how closely they police the validity of it ; )

home depot/expo credited my paypal account last year for 100 dollars and somehow never show up in my account, and it is too late to do anything,so yes, credit to your debit card sometimes have problems.
second, small restaurants can be problem too,i would stay away from small shops and restaurants.
our gas station will do a one dollar authorisation and then the actual shows up a few days later.

we use the paypal card at the gas station all the time and have never had any problem or authorization amount on the card...i always make it clear that it is a debit and not a credit card

certain restaurants automatically add a gratuity charge to the check...this will correct in about 2-3 days.

we use ours for everything we can...love that reimbursement on purchases.

if you make it clear when making purchases that you are using a debit card, any returns will be refunded in cash and not credited back to the card...this has been my experience anyway.

I use mine on the USPS.COM page to pay for postage. Getting a few cents back on everything I ship helps. I also use it for groceries and stuff too- I like getting money back.

I LOVE IT. I just used it to pay my tuition fees to go back to college and it saved me a little bit with the cash back to go towards the payment of books. I have had it since it first came out and have never had double charges and when I lost it once, they immediately (within 6 days) had me a replacement.
I use it at the post office and shipping store. Not to mention everywhere else. Even ebay fees.!!! Hah, better than the 1% cash back for having them automatically take it out of my checking account.
Only +++++'s in my book.

I have mine since they first issued them. One thing you have to remember is if you use it as debit card, you do not get the 1.5% rebate. I also like the 1.6% Money Mkt. Between the 2 it washes out the 2.9% charge. Have never had a problem using it. I buy gas, postage, meals with it.

Over all it's nice to have. The only problem has been Paypal freezing funds for 5 days to a month when you are charged double by a merchant for various reasons. And credits from merchants don't show up for serveral days (3 - 5). H'mmm When you charge something it's taken out of you account instantly and when you are credited it takes 3 - 5 days. I wonder what's going on there (tounge in cheek). Paypal has a lame excuse for it but I think we all know what's up.

Doesn't this have the same major drawback as any other debit card...that being that if it falls into the wrong hands, that person can charge up a storm without even needing to know your PIN?
