I've had quite a few bidders give me excuses for non-payment but of all of the excuses this one is my favorite.
"You had ebay send me a non-paying bidder alert. I have been trying to contact you through your email and have had no response to several emails I have sent. Please let me know if you receive this one."
DUH!!!
First of all how in hell am I supposed to let them know I didn't receive the email if I didn't receive it in the first place???
Second how dumb do these buyers think sellers are??? I'm getting all my other emails and I received the one they just sent.
The thing that really ticks me off about this excuse is not the fact that they didn't send payment - it's that the bidder thinks that my intelligence level is so low that I will believe this crap!!

I find it fascinating that they can ALWAYS e-mail us after the NPB from eBay. Funny how the e-mail magically fixes itself.
Usually I'm not nice to these people. I tell them how many auctions have closed since theirs and how many e-mails I've received and how it just escapes me that their e-mail was the only one lost in cyberspace.

I recently had a brand new ebay buyer win one of my auctions. I sent the info email and got no reply. Two days later a 'Request for Shipping Information' or whatever it is called comes from the buyer via ebay. Again I send my email. Two days later comes a second 'Request for Shipping Information' or whatever it is called comes from the buyer via ebay. Now I suspect the buyer may have blocked all 35 million AOL email accounts so I send my email via my Yahoo email account. Four days later comes a third 'Request for Shipping Information' or whatever it is called comes from the buyer via ebay. I wrote to ebay about the problem but if the email doesn't bounce they will do nothing. I checked out the bidder and she had bid on and won a LOT of other auctions. I write to two of the sellers and no word from the buyer either. Finally her zero feedback rating becomes a one positive. A seller must have called her and gave her the information needed to pay but never got her to change her ebay email address.
Next I get a fourth 'Request for Shipping Information' or whatever it is called comes from the buyer via ebay and it says on it via a personal message " If you do not send the needed info I'm reporting you to ebay!" I again email her and this time the email is 'not a known user' and I turn her into ebay for false contact info and the next day she is NARU. What a PITA! The item was a $4 book and I wasn't about to call the dingbat.

My favorite will always be the little a-hole who said "Sorry dude, I went on vacation in Barbados and I spent all my money" He said "Email me in a month, maybe I can buy it then"
"And All Shall be Well, and All Shall be Well, and All Manner of Things Shall be Well"

I have been buying/selling on eBay since 1999. I have decided that I am selling .09% of my items to bidders who:
1) Have an inordinate number of computer problems (ie, my computer was down;my computer was hacked; I had a computer virus; my boyfriend threw my computer across the room and shattered it)
2) Have an inordinate number of deaths in the family (ie, parents, boyfriends, siblings; pets)
3) Have an inordinate number of cancelled wedding plans, so they no longer are in need of my item which they bid on (doesn't stop them from bidder on other like-items); or, "just found out that my church does not allow these" (while they continue to bid on like-items).
4) Have an inordinate number of friends/relatives who sneak into their computer rooms at night, hack their eBay account and bid, bid, bid.
I had one buyer, when I emailed to ask if she had received her item....neutraled me for emailing her. I had another one, I let her out of paying for items, she neutraled me saying "Dutch Auction...not enough items available".
All in all though.....I meet some really nice people who pay promptly. NPB's are part of the cost of doing business I suppose.
But, on Sunday nights....when auctions are ending....I say a prayer for the family, friends, pets, computers and boyfriends (should they really be considering marriage with a man who throws a computer across a room????) of my winning bidders

I had a customer one time from Las Vegas who asked it I could wait a couple of weeks for payment as he was "tapped out"! The guy sounded sincere so I said "OK"...and sure enough, in a couple of weeks, payment arrived! Had a chuckle over the request, though.

I recently had a bidder who had racked up 3 NPB's quite some time back, before Ebay switched to the "3 strikes you're out" program, and consequently she was grandfathered in. She stiffed me and I filed an NPB and a FVF and she got NARU'd. She sent me a copy of the letter she got from Ebay stating she was suspended indefinitely because this was her fourth offense. She arrogantly asked me how much she owed me and demanded that I contact Ebay and let her off the hook so she could get reinstated. Not wanting to face a tar and feather party from my fellow Ebay sellers, I never responded to her demand. She is still NARU and is one less deadbeat we all have to worry about.
The light at the end of the tunnel will turn out to be an oncoming train.

This is such a wonderful thread!
I must add to my favorite excuses (received this one this morning. Have received this many times, but, forgot to include it in my original post ):
An inordinate number of bidders who do NOT know where they live!
Auction ended, 5 days later winning bidder sends me an email with her address. 20 days later, I get a money order with this address on it (well past my 10 day terms). I package her widgets and mail them Priority last Friday. I check the confirmation # with the post office yesterday, the package is being returned to me as undeliverable as addressed. I email the lady, she sends me this reply:
PLEASE RE SEND TO (snip name/address)--I AM VERY
SORRY THEY HAVE CHANGED OUR R.R. ADDRESS
Now, I'll be happy to resend....BUT I'm not paying the postage to resend the $8.00 widget to her correct address!
Would someone jump in here and give me a polite response to her...so that I can wait another 25 days for her to mail me the postage to mail to her real address? I feel my first neg coming on!

Capolady - Gosh, I have sent that same email - After 10 or more emails (and none returned) - I beg them to let me know if they 'received' this email - not if they are not receiving them.
I once spent 6 hours trying to contact a Canadian buyer. Several others sent emails to this buyer for me - some returned - some not. Now he had received at least 1 email from me because he sent money - I sent item - and the 'your item was shipped' email was returned. This person was new to Ebay and someone said they would pull his account if I reported non-working addy. So, silly me, I spent almost a day trying to contact him, and never reported this. Now - about 2 weeks later, I posted a negative saying he was giving me a neg because I did not leave feedback!!! I had left feedback 5 days earlier. Now-- if I don't hear from them within 5 days - I contact Ebay.
There seems to be a spam filter that will return email, even if sent through Ebay. That happened to me once - I was a little ticked.

Can I just erase that post - it makes no sense -
Bottom line, I spent far too much time trying to contact his buyer because I didn't want Ebay to suspend him and he gives ME a negative because I didn't leave him feedback when I had left it 5 days before.

If someone has just downloaded Microsoft 6 outlook express they have a spam blocker on that, that when you try and open your mail it won't let you. I called my ISP told them what was happening, they helped me delete it but I honestly can't remember what I did and that was only 3 weeks ago. It has something to do with security.
