not sure where to post this but I need help.
I signed up with Andale for ONE month last Aug and cancelled Sept 1. Apparently I cancelled the wrong account (no clue how I had 2 either...) when I used my email to cancel I ASSUMED it was attached to the account I opened. It was not. So they continued to charge me, month after month. Wouldn't cancel my account until I paid. I said no - I cancelled. They said I cancelled wrong account. They wouldn't fix it. I called them 2x, no ret return call. I never can get a person. I emailed over and over asking to close account and I would pay one month (even though I didn't use it...) and they said no. Now account is up to $44! They are sending me to collections, wont' give me a contact to speak to and I am beyond livid.
Help me out here. What do I do? Should I get an attorney? This is soo unfair.

Call your credit card company and dispute all charges on your account billed by Andale. Explain the situation and let Andale justify why the charges are legitimate to your credit card company. You have certain protection by your card provider, so use this to your advantage.

they only charged me for one month on my card (the month I used them) - they have not used my CC after that - but are saying I OWE that amount by billing me each month and are demanding it. I only did the pay one time thing. I refuse to pay them but they are sending me to collections now and won't take my calls. Told me today in email they don't accept telephone calls. Unreal to me!

An attorney can write them a letter that will probably keep them from doing anything to damage your credit rating, such as turning it over to collection, but I would personally be mad enough to report this to the FTC and the state Attorney General. This free 30 day trial period enticement is a very common scam and is used extensively by magazine subscription brokers, insurance companies, and many other types of shady businesses. Any attorney will probably have a "fill in the blanks" form letter to deal with it.
The light at the end of the tunnel will turn out to be an oncoming train.

IF they do file a claim against you there is something you may do. Get a copy of your credit report and file your own explanation of what happened. It will not remove thier claim but will give other reviewers proof that you didn't just ignore the problem.

I had a similar problem with Andale, and there was no way I could get through to them for any help or assistance. But for $1.24 they would not let me use the site, and they even sent me a bill to my home for $1.24 I had no idea that I owed this but they took about 4 months till they cleared up my problem even after I sent them a check for $1.24.
And now everytime I go to Andale they tell my how my account has been suspended, and until it is all cleared up I can not use the site..................What are they talking about??????????????............I like the site, but the problem is when you need some ans, there dosen't seem to be anyone available, even through Emails.........real strange how they conduct business...........
Plus I dont even use them for my auctions, I have a private program that I purchase every year, so how this $1.24 happened...........its beyond my understanding, but I figured, just pay it and they will leave me alone, NOT TRUE............I still have no answers.

andale gouged me, too. Billed my cc a year after I quit them. They claimed they had found some charges that hadn't been posted properly. I finally gave up and ate the 15 bucks. But they are not alone, now auctionwatch is doing much the same thing after I closed my account last November.
