FWIW: Carnaby.com has finally pulled a Pets.com, leaving some loyal cheerleaders high & not-very-dry
Anyhoo, here's my question for all ye WinDoze experts:
Their bulk-loader ("MAX" which really was FANTASTIC!) apparently has no UNINSTALL feature! OK, you say, just goto ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS in the CONTROL PANEL, right??!! Wrong! It ain't there!
How does one remove a proggie that ain't there??
Ralphie seems to know, but for some sadistic reason, he ain't talking!
PS: we're on XP (winDoze finally done right!)

Two suggestions (and keep in mind I'm no expert)...First, if you have Norton's Systems Works use their uninstaller; second go into Windows Explorer and pull up the program with all of it's folders, file etc. and see if it had an uninstall hidden somewhere. I have XP and I'm sure that there's a way to uninstall. When I went into my Windows file using Explorer the first thing there was a list of bright blue "uninstall". Good luck.

Not...I looked inside the MAX-LOADER folder within the PROGRAMS folder & there is no UNINSTALL file or function

WELL, all those 'FILE OVERWRITES' and registry entries (in the install text log)caused this PC novice to decide to keep the [dead] program intact.

I downloaded Netscape 6 about a year or so ago and guess what it didn't work, so I tried to uninstall and it couldn't be done. They had at that time no way to uninstall it. What I had to do was a quick restore, that is with the CD you get with your computer, to put my computer back the way it was from the factory. Thank goodness I didn't download any junk or good stuff either so it wasn't such a big deal. So I did a quick restore, installed my photo program, scanner, printer and started all over again.

can't you simply find the directory of the program (Probably named "Max" and just delete it? Doing a clean uninstall will require a list of the components and files installed, and that'll have you digging through your windows or system directory for any .ini files the program may have installed.
My suggestion: go to search and type in Max, once you find the directory, just delete it.
but er.. make sure this program doesn't load up at startup or do any other funky things... so you wont get any messages telling you that "blah blah can't be found" when your windows starts up.
personally I hate programs without uninstall... and programs with uninstall that doesn't uninstall completely.
but if you have plenty of hard drive space and the program doesn't load automatically on windows... might as well just ignore it.

Yeah...with about 60GB hard drive space open, I'll just leave this dead program alone. I was just curious if anybody knew of a safe & easy way to remove a proggie that had NO un-install feature &, at the same time, did not show up on the ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS window!
I consider myself somewhat winDoze literate, but I avoid firetrucking with the Registry with a passion -- yes, me be big cluck, cluck
