I typically ship several 10-20 pound packages a week and have always used UPS. With the new rate increases, I checked out FedEx Home Delivery ground and find they are cheaper than UPS when delivered to their counter or drop off location. Any comments out there?

Paypal has an interface to UPS from their web pages. FedEx Ground forms require you to manually enter the buyer information. Then you need to create a manifest for each run you make to the FedEx office. $1.50 additional charge for Home Delivery per package.

I have always used FedEx Ground. I have never shipped anything by UPS but have received a lot by them. A large percentage of the packages I received by UPS were misdirected and took way longer to get delivered while they took a tour of the country. I have probably sent over 1000 packages by fedex ground and it only happened once.
Why don't you just try them and see how you like it? You really have nothing to lose.
I have also seen people here that use Airborne Ground say they like it but I won't use them because I don't like the local airborne people.

If you ship that many packages a week why are you using counter or drop off locations when you can use UPS Worldship from your home with a daily pick up for $7.00 a week. Seems to me you would spend more than that going to drop off locations to ship your packages.
I've been using UPS for about 15 months now and have never paid over $7.00 a week. UPS is my only means of shipping as I sell heavy cast iron products. If I couldn't use UPS I would quit selling on eBay.
I can't speak for FedEx for i've never used them.

Since the U.S.P.S. rate increase of July 1st, I have switched to FedEx Ground for 99% of my shipping. I have absolutely nothing but praise for them. The only problem is you need to be a reasonable distance from an authorized dropoff location, which is usually at the local airport, or pay for pickup. I drop off all of my packages at their airport terminal. You also need to adjust the prices you charge the buyers to compensate for that occasional buyer who lives in the boonies and is subject to the rural surcharge. You only need to do this if you list fixed shipping prices in your auctions. I've tried them all, and in my area FedEx works best for me.
The light at the end of the tunnel will turn out to be an oncoming train.

I ship everything over 4 lbs by FedEx Ground. I am only 1 mile from the center so it is not a problem as far as dropping off. I have an account with FedEx and am billed every 2 weeks. I have never had a problem in deliveery in all of the time I have used the service going back to RPS.

Also, if there is an MBE or similar place closer than the FedEx location they might let you leave packages at no charge. I used to have to drive 16 miles to drop them off and was just planning on setting up daily pickup when an mbe opened just across the street from the post office. He lets me leave them at no charge. I asked him several times if he was sure he didn't mind and he said since I carry them all into the back and put them in the FedEx pile it didn't make any difference to him because he didn't have to do anything. Also, he said that the driver likes it because he gets paid per package he picks up.(sometimes my pile is bigger than MBE's)
About half the time I get there at the same time as the FedEx guy and just take them to his truck instead.

i envy all of you,we have a guy who runs a gift shop and offers ups,fed exp and is a usps contract station.no matter which service you use,he will cheat on rates.
i have reported him twice to usps as contract station is not supposed to mark up the postage,he is not marking up,he is lying about weight and math.
1 1/2 lbs becomes 2 lb
1 plus 1 becomes 3.
