I just received this email thru ebay's ask seller a question. The auction is for a new piece of software that is still sealed in it's retail box. I bought it, I didnt use it, I am selling it. The software is a virus protection software. Please read the email below and let me know what you think. I don't know why but for some reason it scared me.
Hi, I was wondering if you had anymore OEM or Retail software available for me to purchase.
I am looking for
Win 98/NT/2000/XP OEM or Retail
Office 97/2000/XP SBE or Pro OEM or retail
All recent Adobe products
Please let me know prices and quantities.
If you have any friends who sell software please have them contact me. I am always looking to turn Software into cash for everyone
If Ebay ends this auction please contact me... I am still interested. I have paypal available now...

It could well be a BSA representative or someone from Microsoft. If he's not someone official, then he's some kind of shady reseller. Either way you should avoid this guy.
*IS* your box marked OEM or Academic? If so, you really shouldn't be selling it on eBay (Or anywhere else legally).
You would probably do well to ignore to the message. If the item you are selling isn't FULLY unquestionably legal, you should probably cancel it, before "someone" turns you in to eBay.

I just received another email from the same guy. It was a duplicate of the first. Do these guys ever give up? I guess he is fishing for something!

I got the same wording in an email, only mine was about PEZ. Now I wonder if they are just harvesting names and email addresses. Of course I responded with my usual 'check my other auctions, I do not sell off eBay'.

If you received one too, maybe they are TRYING to harvest email addresses. I didn't respond to the ones I received. Check out the sender's email address with ebay and see what kind or if they have any feedback at all. Mine had no feedback at all. I wonder if it legit to list the id of the email here? Been a member since January 22, 2003 No feedback. Looks like this id is only used for harvesting emails or whatever the purpose is. The id that goes with this email address is: dna_buy6. Maybe I shouldnt list that here. If not, please someone tell me. It's just that I think this is a scam and if we don't all have the info and work together, we can't protect ourselves and each other!

I got two of the same emails. I think it's an automated email from a reseller trying to get your software cheap. Ignore it.
