You'd better check all of your saved and pending auctions, and be carefull when you relist. Auctionwatch is apparently changing our saved preferences without our permission. I rescheduled a bunch of closed auctions this morning before I noticed the new checkout feature had been inserted into my saved preferences without any notice to me, or even a request.

If you are going to bend me over, at least blow in my ear and tell me you love me.

I just spent close to two hours re-setting everything.

Bow - if you read the anouncements at the top of the control panel you would see that they did tell you. And they told you how to turn it off. Sorry to hear they didn't call first but it's not as if it was a clandestine move. Yellow box, bold type, "shining" light beside it....

That's pretty sneaky. They should offer the service and tell you how to turn it on, not change your preferences and then tell you how to turn it off. This smacks of what ebay did a while back. Added a feature for ebayers to receive spam email and then reset everyone's preferences to receive it. Once you figured out what was going on, you had to go in and turn it off. I just don't like the way tey went about it.

Sure, I didn't read the anouncement and didn't scan each one of my relists - I was doing them a batch at a time - but AW was downright sneaky to go in and change my preferences for me. THAT is what I'm PO'd about.

Like I said, if you are going to bend me over, at least blow in my ear and tell me you love me.

Now I can add AW to the do-not-trust list.

Thank you, I went in and de-selected what they had put into my preferences. I forget to check all the announcements.

I appreciate you drawing attention to this bowtiefifty, I admit, I don't read the messages at the top, I really must do that in the future. I have gone in and turned it off in "my preferences". I agree with you that this should have been offered as an option to use it, not handed out, and expect people to turn it off if they don't want it!

This new feature seems like it's going to help a lot!
I'm glad AW started it on their own.
I have auctions ready to go, thought I was going to need to edit them all.
But when I went in I found they were all ready to go with the new feature.
I'm glad, saved me a lot of time editing!

Thanks bowtiefifty for pointing this out!
I wasn't aware of this feature, but I do LIKE it actually. I elected to use it, and to do the "Slide in from the right" Checkout message. It's pretty neat how it appears, and would be hard to miss. I really think that it will encourage use of the Check-Out.

Thanks Again!

Actually they changed Nothing
What they did do is add a new feature.
If you don't like it just turn it off!

AW did change all of my "Inventory" saved templates - they checked "use AW check-out" even thhough I have always had those boxes unchecked and indicated in preferences that I don't WANT to to use the checkout - had to change all of my "Inventory" items in Sales Manager.
...or maybe it was the PayPal Aliens??? [ edited by neglus on Jan 26, 2003 06:33 AM ]

dadofstickboy - you can call it what you want, but when I go to my preferences and find something checked that I didn't check, AW changed my preferences without my permission.

I listed a new auction this morning and entered an invalid field, when the screen popped up for me to correct the invalid field, the checkout feature was checked in my listing. I had to uncheck it. I saved the listing and checked my preferences and it was not checked, so it looks like ol Sneaky Pete at AW found another way to slide it in.

Check your "inventory" items bow...that's where I found the insidious check marks that over rode my preferences - I had to change all 14 of my listings styles!

I like it too. I have had it used already and hope it attracts more to use it. Saves time for both buyer and seller when using the AW WBN.
