Hello, all!
Due to some odd machinations, I've returned to the classroom, and now my spouse wants to take over the online business.
However, he can't drive, so we need to find a way for him to print out online postage and insurance stuff so that he can just hand the packages to our mail carrier.
If you would be so kind, please tell me of your online postage and insurance experiences, so that we can begin!

I use Endicia.com to print my postage. Most of the time I take the packages to the P.O. but my carrier will take them from home as well.

a more primitive way is to buy a lot of stamps in diff denominations-one penny,10 cents,23 cents,37 cents,40 cents ,one dollars, priority 3.85 etc and get dc ,insurance slips, customs slips .
get a good digital scale and weight them and look up the postage cost online at www.usps.com
you can also order supplies and stamps online at the same site.

I started using Endicia too, and highly recommend it. I also bought a zebra printer which prints the standard 4 x 6 labels and can print for FedEx or for the Post Office. You do not need a zebra printer however, a little laser printer shoulddo a nice job Another advice is to use U-Pic through Endicia to provide your insurance if you offer or need insurance on a package. Otherwise a trip to the PO counter would be necessary for insured packages. If you like the service and someone enters your promotional code when they sign up for a 30 day free trial, mine is 509637, you can get a free months service for free. One of the big benefits I have found with the service is getting free delivery confirmation for priority mail, and delivery confirmation for 13 cents instead of 55 cents on each media mail, or first class package. There are a lot of restrictions, and guidelines for mailing packages, which can be kind of confusing, which Endicia does a pretty descent job of explaining. Another way to get some of the benefits of the mail service printed at home would be directly through the USPS web site. You still get free delivery confirmation on Priority mail, but can not mail International, Canada, media mail, or first class from home that weighs over 1 pound. Also, First Class or Media Mail can not print out from the USPS web site. Fed-Ex or UPS will come to your house for a weekly fee, and their service includes reasonably priced insurance. Good Luck!
