About a month ago I had a used QVC leather jacket close at more than $100, this is the item: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2826798282 The bidder never responded. After a few weeks I received an email stating that this was the husband of the bidder who had just died and he no longer had a need for the jacket. I took a look at the bid history and this person had bid on $1000's worth of items. They had no negatives so I did not want to leave a neg. I sent a NPB stating we both agreed to cancel the transaction and I left a neutral feedback.
Now here is where the story gets interesting...Today I receive the following email:
hi do u still have that coat 4 sale...because this was the last item my
mom wanted and she bid on it and won it then she just fell back in the
chair and smiled and she wouldnt wake up... my dad could not afford
this but i now can so if u would be kind to tell me if u still have this
coat my email adress is BENZBABY**@****.COM thank you sooo much.
What do you think? I think I should not reply at all to this. The jacket was relisted and sold for just over $50.

"Dear BENZBABY,
"We are so sorry about what happened to your mom. After that, we felt we couldn't sell the jacket for crass money on eBay, so we shipped it free of charge to the next highest bidder, who emailed us recently to report that she is enjoying it tremendously.
"I'm sure your mom would have wanted it to go to a good home."

I am concerned about replying as the "from" email address does not match the original bidder's email address. I think I will just ignore it. You would not believe how many dead people I have come across in eBay dealings!

marcn, I think you are right...no response will tell them you are not interested and who knows if this is actually the daughter or the woman herself that just came up with the money for the jacket.
