I was looking at some jewelry at ebay's live auction. They close in 20 seconds and then reopen a few minutes later on the same thing. I have seen the same diamond earrings show up and get a bid and close to reopen a few minutes later.

I really don't understand this

I can't help you out.. Sorry

I had a question about them also

I would like to know, if the bid opens on ebay at $50.00, how can they open the bid at $20.00 at the "live" auction. Some of the items went for lower bids then the starting bid on ebay.It did not make sense to me, but what do I know ??

Another question is the 15%-17% fee they charge on top of the winning bid amount. How do they get away with that, as I have never seen that at a real live auction ??

Can any one explain this to me. ???

Here in New England the live auctioneers charge a 10 to 15% buyer's premium - over and above the winning bid amount.

Of course us bidders take that into account when we bid,but the auctioneers and consigneor probably are too stupid to realize that.
