anyone going? I can't remember how long it is but it is in the south. There was just something on TV about it. I know there must be someone here that could fill us in on the subject.

I saw it on TV, too. PBS was doing a flea market documentary. Sounds like fun but, unless I was going down there already, I'll sit this one out. By the time we pay for gasoline to get there from Cleveland, I'll have spent all my garage sale money. :{

Maybe we should all go and try to sell out unsold ebay items????
I would want to buy but sales are so slow I can't afford the trip.

My husband and I are going to be setting up for it in Junction City Kentucky.There will be over 140 spots where we set up.It looks like a huge tent city. A lot of people will camp out or stay in their motor home.I have a huge van and will just pack up every night and go home and leave the van there.I live about 30 miles away. We make more money at this event,than we do all year at the flea market.Many people bring their antiques and furniture,you never know what you will find.The cost here to set up is $50.00 for a 20'X 40'space. Thats for all 10 days. Most people will start setting up on the 30th.

I could never sell at something like this....I'd be leaving the table unattended every five minutes to see what else was out there!!
It looked like so much fun on the TV program and they showed people got some neat things for cheap! I would like to go just to experience it!

Maybe eBay live could be at a location near there and we could kill to birds with one stone. Is there any possible way that you could get through that whole sale in that length of time? There has to be some good bargins there, but just my luck I would find a place by all you guys trying to sell your eBay cast offs.

I went last year. Started in AL on Thursday morning; finished up in KY on Sunday. It was so much fun. I would love to try the 10 day one this year. However, unless you have a motorhome, motels rates are hiked up and you have to reserve in advance or there are no rooms to be had. We paid $125 for a conference room with pull out bed but it was the only room we could find within a sixty mile radius after a 3 hr search. It is hard to know where you will be each night. There is so much that you have to pick and choose where to stop. I got the best bargains at the beginning. After all was over and purchases sold this past year I think I was about $200 in the hole due to Motel, food, & gas. But--it was so interesting and I would do it again but my husband has refused. He said once was enough. Advice if you go: It is very rural. There are very few bathrooms; no fast food places or convenience stores--just a few Churches and Fire Departments having fund raisers. Overall--it was great!

I would think the best thing would be rent an RV for a week (if you could get like 3 people to go in on it). The more I read about it the more I would really like to go but I doubt that is happening.

I've found with garage selling that the best garage sales are in the ritzy areas and the worst are in the low income sections. With five states to go through you could just hit the ritzy areas. ( safer too ). When you get thirsty there's the Jack Daniels Distillery somewhere out there in Tennessee. Just kidding, it sounds like a good road trip.

Ive found that sometimes in the ritzy areas they dont put anything "good" out...
but what they do put out is usually very low priced because they just want to get rid of it. If there is something good, you're not getting a re-sellers price on it (unless you haggle) because they know what they paid for it retail.
But yeah, richer folk definitely have better junk! lol!!
In the less than ritzy areas, they dont usually know or care if something is worth much on a collectors market.
Somehow I think the people involved in this Mile Garage sale are well aware of EBAY even tho its rural. So, Moonshine, anyone? (Heard the real juice knocks yer socks off.)

Yep, if your looking for junk, ritzy is the way to go.
Now, if your looking for something worth buying, that's different. The poorer section of town is often where some of the oldest houses are, hence the older items that "grandma" has had forever.
I usually go first to the poor side of town then go to ritzy on the last day of sale. Tend to do pretty well, if I do say so.
