Hi, all. We have an old family letter we need to send to a lodge in Kansas for their historical records.

The return address on envelope (from 1932) is "McPherson Lodge No. 172, A.F. & A.M., McPherson, Kansas."

I googled a bit, found the McPherson chamber of commerce and have e-mailed (no answer yet) for a contact name for that lodge.

If I knew what A.F. & A.M. meant, (Shriners? Masons? Elks? Eagles?), I might be able to access a national directory of all that group's chapters. Any clues from all you smart people?

Ancient Free and *Accepted Masons I think. I googled AF & AM

Misread it as ancient masons the first time. Opps!

Thanks, pclady! I appreciate your help. I"ve e-mailed the grand lodge of Kansas for their help in getting a contact name for the particular lodge we're looking at. I hope they answer.

Neglus: I was kinda thinking Ancient Mariners or Agricultural Menfolk or such.
