That's because the hackers are mostly Eastern Europeans. But what happens when the ones with perfect English start in with these spoofs or the ones that send a copy of an actual ebay request email but add a link? What happens when a hacker creates an ebay web page that looks exactly like an actual ebay web support web page with an icon on the lock on the bottom of the page? It's coming, you just know it.

The telemarketers call because they make money and the spoof emailers send out millions of spoof emails because they occassionally hit paydirt too. Money is the motivator and indeed 'Makes The World Go Round". It's free, easy and almost totally risk free if you live in Bulgaria or South Korea or have good hacking skills.

My husband was looking over my shoulder last night when I was picking up e-mail. I showed him a spoof I had just gotten, and he was appalled. Thought it looked "so official."
Shouldn't EBAY have some big banners at their site warning EVERYONE of these??? If I were in their shoes, I'd do it.

Ebay does have a banner for those who use their Email addy as their ID.
I quit using my addy and the spoofs quit for a while, now they're back.
Goes to show what ever you use as an ID you're going to get them!

Roadsmith, I was just thinking the same thing. I think the problem is so widespread that eBay should have two home pages, the first one should be white, black letters with a warning about these spoof emails.
If I didn't read this board I would absolutely do just what the spoof email told me to do. They must work very well, if they didn't it would stop.
There are millions that do not read message boards I really feel for them.
