Please take a look. I am a little leary of this guy. I saw a vase I liked and bid on it. Someone outbid me last minute by $1 and then he comes back a day later with a second chance offer. Look at the feedback, everything is private. I don't know much about murano glass and i just liked the vase he had.
Please look and tell me what you think

I did ask him. I asked "I am not an expert in this type of item. How do you know it is murano glass. I bid on it because I really like it but I was just wondering how you
knew it was made by murano" His answer:"This items are from the island of Murano in Italy"

yes,i see he said origin is italy.
and it has been bidded up to 18 dollars, but shipping is 3 for a piece of glass??
he could be a direct importer/wholesaler so his cost is lower than a retailer or he got these items at liquidation price.
my local printer told me one day two women came to his shop and asked him to print some labels which said made in russia.
they explained to him that they will be used on some vases made in mexico, but who would buy them if they said mexico,so it is better if they said made in russia??
personally i think if they said made in france will sell better .what do you think??

stopwhining, shipping is not $3.00, that is the handling fee.
will pay shipping plus $3.00
this does not look like Murano to me...there are certain glassmakers that you can actually get a feel for the way they look...
for me these are Murano and Fenton....just looks a little toooo gaudy for murano
and before anybody jumps on me, I am not saying it is ugly....just gaudy

It could be cheap Murano. The only way to tell is to actually handle the glass or see a label. Not that labels mean anything, from what Stopwhiningg said.
My personal vote is Chinese. The colors and the shape are really indicative of what's coming out of the Far East now. Plus if you look at his auctions, he appears to be buying wholesale. Those clowns are for sure Chinese. I've seen them before in fleamarkets.
Murano can be gaudy but usually at the lower end. The other way to tell good vs. cheap Murano is how the pontil is finished. Almost any reputable seller of blown glass will include that very important fact in the description.

Does Marino glass come in those colors? I thought their colors were more serene. But it just might be me.

I agree that it's newer stuff he's buying wholesale...But if you like the vase buy it...you can never be taken for a loop if your buying something you like. Here's one of my Murano Ashtrays...light blue & white swirl with silver flecks.I love it ! I paid 12.00 for it at a auction that all the proceeds went to a good cause.

Murano glass, especially the tourist stuff, can be very bright. On the very high end the colors are jewel like and the glass is very delicate. Clowns are a very popular theme and the more colorful the better for most collectors. Quality in Murano, like all glass, is in the details.

What difference does it make if it's Murano(made in Murano) or something else. We're talking $18 here. Like you said, you saw a vase, and you liked it. For $18, go ahead and buy it. Doesn't matter if you're leary of the seller for the privacy. I agree that it's pretty, and I agree that the whole thing doesn't seem quite right. I don't know diddly about glass, but for $18 it's probably not 100% made in Murano Murano. But who cares. Why waste your time and ours even wondering. It's $18. You like the way it looks. Buy it. Move on.

I think the point here, beyond whether or not it's Murano, WHY ARE THE AUCTIONS AND FEEDBACK PRIVATE?? I would be leery for that reason!

The feedback is private, but when I looked, it said 100% postitive.
I don't know, maybe he is afraid of other sellers 'stealing' his customers?

Some of his completed auctions state that the glass is handcrafted in Romania.
He also states this:
The epiphany pieces are created referencing the Italians, but adding a contemporary twist with complex color theory and their unique way of sculpting solid glass bits onto the exterior of the pieces. This technique of exterior bits is unique to the epiphany "style".

paloma91 it could be... I take it he's selling 'new' Murano. I would think that they would then have at the least the gold sticker that says Murano.
I have had Murano, and sold it, only when it did have the sticker on it.
There are reproduction ones, that look almost as good, but if he says Murano, I would think it would have the stamp. IMO

I thought, when searching, it was Murano, until I looked closer to see the 'Inspired' part

I'm not sure where it is made. In this auction he states that it is handcrafted in Romania but in Item Specifics he has Italy.

There are several sellers registered in Romania and some of the glass is quite beautiful.

Another Romanian seller and some of it reminds me of the Czechoslovakian cased glass.

There is Murano style glass made in China too.

While I was searching for glass from Romania on ebay and I wondered why this auction came up. I suspected keyword spamming and checked the source code and they have hidden words for every country in the world.
