My darn computer keeps freezing up. I know I need more memory, clean out cache, et. But think I should reload windows maybe. Anyway when the thing freezes, I hit control, alt, delete, and then it says hit any key....can't find a key that says"any key"

also wondered if I just reload windows, without reformating, what would happen with my Outlook Express program, as well as others. I really need to make sure I don't loose my addresses, and my 7 email setups. Don't want to start all over, and all my saved auction templates, etc. Some goofball thought he was doing me a favor to speed up my pc, and messed it up, and can't use my cd writer to copy my files to. Maybe someone can direct me #1. to the "any key", and #2. to some good sites to search about windows, computer problems, etc.
Thanks.....

I found it!!!]

Seriously...I do need to know about not loosing stuff on my pc if I reload windows. And any good sites on pc stuff.
Most of it is so complex, too hard to understand. I had a site once, and lost it's link. Sure don't want to loose all my ebay pictures and stuff.

"Any key" means exactly what it says: Hit anykey period. That means A through the rest of the keys. Are you putting us on??

Yeah the 'any' key is an old joke, but I think he wants to know about reloading Windows, not reformatting, without losing his programs

I believe what you need to do is get a slave drive, since you said you don't have a lot of memory, and transfer the all your stuff to it, then reload. For 98 that would be.. but not sure what OS you are running.

I've heard http://www.Juvio.com can usually help out if you need someone to walk you through getting something done. They offer unlimited support for a monthly fee - and it's month to month, so it's a lot cheaper than paying for any of your system vendors to help you - they have a stop watch and your credit card in hand when they're helping

Take a look and let me know what you think.

Juvio is the same company as www.speakwithageek.com The difference being Speakwithageek costs about $20/mo vs the $35 Juvio costs, since they pay commisions to the MLM structure.

I use Speakwithageek, they are very good. Sometimes you have to call them a couple times to get a reply if they are busy but I have not found a service that comes close to the value per dollar.

Also, you can use Speakwithageek for free for 5 days. That may be enough to get your computer working smoothly and then you can cancle if you don't want to continue the service.

My 2¢,

Rob

thanks for the good ideas here. I would like to get a new one soon. I have heard that Microsoft won't be supporting win98 after the 1st of the year, and so my cable company won't provide my service for my internet if that does happen. I have seen winME, and also XP. I like those two for the ease of preparing the auctions,(previewing pics, etc.) I have to look into those further. I have heard that winME has a lot of hang ups, so XP sounds real good. Hope this junk of mine holds up for a bit longer. Crossing my fingers Ebay does good for me before the holidays. Just wondering....how close to Christmas before sales slow down, and then after when sales pic up again....

Good one. I once worked in an office that had computers with a panic button. Took me a month to realize that it was a fake button.

I look at the speaktoageek site and it says it's $34.95 unless I'm looking at the wrong thing??? Maybe they had a increase.
I have a laptop and want to put XP on it - Anyone think that's a bad idea?

I signed up for the annual plan. I have cancled and reinstated it twice within the first year. It is $19.95/mo

In any case, most of the phone support techs I have looked at charge $35 per HOUR. So it still isn't a bad deal if they did raise it.
