I have a buyer that has not communicated with me at all. The Auction closed on 9/21, I sent a notice the next morning with total charges & my name & address. At the 10 day mark I sent a reminder, still no answer. It is now 14 days with no communication, should I do the NPB now or wait? I don't like to do this, but I think I have been fair. The buyer has 67 positives & no negs.

Should have sent the NPB at 7 days maybe you'd have your money by now.

file the NPB, wait ten days then file for your final credit....VERY IMPORTANT to do that!
Go ahead and relist!

My service send the WBN within an hour of close.

I manually send a reminder 10-14 days later, depending on how the weekends or holidays fall.

7 days later I do the NPB.

7 days (or is it 10?) later I do the FVF.

So every NPB ties up the item for up to 28 days. Fortunately, I don't get very many of them.

Day 1 WBN

Day 5 Reminder and an Ebay invoice

Day 11 NPB

Day 21 FVF and relist

I do put in my TOS that I will re-list the item in 21 days if no payment has been received.

You'd be surprised how many payments show up between day 11 and day 21.

If they can't pay in 3 weeks they probably aren't going to pay.

Unless they have emailed to say that they are sending a money order I recommend that you file NPB on the 7th day. This is especially important if you have not heard from the winning bidder. If they tell you that they are sending a money order, you need to be clear to them that you require payment within 7-10 days or you will be filing alerts.

I file FVF exactly 10 days after the NPB is filed. I am not the least bit lenient in this area - considering that 17 days is ample time to arrange payment.

I use to do the reminder emails and such but now I just file the NPB alert and Final NPB. I send one personalized WBN immediately after the auction and ebay sends theirs. That enough for me. I have 2 NPBs in process now. Both have a zero feedback rating.

No reminders for me, I usually do NPB after 14 days, and FVF 10 days after that. I get a decent number of people paying after the NPB. No point in continually emailing them, if they are going to flake, they will flake. The ones that truely forgot will pay (and usually apoligize) after the NPB.

My TOS says payment in 14 days. They get an EOA immediately. At 10 days they get the eBay reminder. At 14 days NPB. And if that doesn't get an immediate response and payment, a FVF 10 days later.

I do not understand why people hesitate to use the process, such as it is. It's an auction, not a "hold this until I decide to pay". It's the seller's auction; the sellers terms and ultimately, the seller's control.

BTW, those numbers are meaningless. You have no idea how many sellers haven't negged for fear of retaliation.

Thanks to all of your ideas. I have always allowed 10 days for payment. Ususally I have had no problem getting paid well within that time frame. This time it didn't work out. I just now filed the NPB.

I file on day 11 and then on day 21. A reminder is sent on day 7. It's incredible how many pay on day 22.
