***eBay Gift Certificates***
Date: 10/09/03 Time: 11:31:49 AM PDT
Members frequently ask us about the ability to give Gift Certificates on eBay. We're pleased to announce that this month, we are introducing eBay Gift Certificates -- the perfect gift for a surprise present, for that hard-to-shop-for person, or just about any situation.
eBay Gift Certificates are easy to use, safe and convenient. Anyone can buy an eBay Gift Certificate, even if they are not a registered member, and they can be used towards any item on eBay where PayPal is accepted. Redeeming a Gift Certificate is easy using PayPal, and sellers will receive a normal PayPal payment. They won't even know that the buyer was using a Gift Certificate.
eBay Gift Certificates will go on sale in the next few days. For more information about Gift Certificates, including how to purchase and use them, please click here.
This holiday season, why not give the gift of eBay. Happy shopping!
So will Ebay set up a little website with a paypal shopping cart? lol
If Ebay can't always successfully send EOA notices and more and more ISP's are filtering them as junk mail how many paid for LOST gift cetificates will be floating around?
And if you go through the customer service tree to find out why you didn't get your $100 gift certificate you planned to give your mom for Christmas will you still get the auto-generated "do not reply to" email response?

I'll take any form of ebay effort to generate sales at this point. Every chain store and many major online sites such as Amazon have gift certificates so ebay is a bit late to the dance but they really do not sell goods.
I can see the sellers that hate Paypal getting peeved at this Paypal power move but there are really not that many sellers not accepting Paypal.
