I keep getting the popup to change my ebay ID from my email address to a 'user name'.
I've had this same email as my user ID on ebay since it started.

I have another ID only going back 4 years, and I hate it but the main one is what is bugging me

I don't have a clue as to what I would use.

The question is, ebay says they will change it for you if you don't come Jan 2004. What do you think they would 'assign' you? user01 or something?

I hate thinking up a name. Thats one reason I kept my email as my ID for so long.

Most of the oldtimers that I know that had email addresses as ebay IDs are just dropping the .com or whatever suffix their ISP enail was.

I can see ebay giving someone a random generated id like 22zpk712. Better to not gamble with their assigned id and pick your own or drop the .com part of the current id.

I used my URL and changed the "dots" to "dashes" and it went through no problem.
like this www-yourdomain-com
you could use katy-at-aol-com (or whatever you are)

No need to beat yourself to death trying to come up with a new id. Just use your social security or credit card number.

Here is one: seethetide (SEETHETIDE)

You would be surprised how many great user ID's are still available.

Many are taken, but many are left.

I was just looking at the top 500 ebay feedback page

http://www.nortica.com/UserArea/ebay500_2.asp

and several of the sellers with email ids now have 'invalid ids' so they must have changed to other ids over a month ago. Several are still holding out with their email ids. Of the top 100 there are 3 are narued ( #17, #54 & #72 ) and 6 have stop listing.

Use your street name or your house number, both would be easy to remember. Before I moved, email address was sanmar1095. SANtaMARia & 1095 was my house number.
