What is this called, other than ugly, heavy, porcelain thingy? Made in Spain and the top floral is a lid. I'm not even sure what category to put it in. On the bottom is: ARDALT - Flores Imperio - Spain. Thanks for any help.

I'd call it an air freshener. I've sold older versions of what you have. They were filled with anything that gave off a scent--orange peels, flowers, whatever.

max is right...a room freshener...reticulated sides on the bowl so the smell could flow through the room...I think it is very pretty...but to each their own.

What is the size? If it is not too large might it be a garlic keeper. I have seen them with air holes to keep the garlic from sprouting. Otherwise potpourri sounds possible.

The size is:
6 3/4 high x 9 long x 4 1/2 inches wide. The measurements are with the lid on. The woman I bought it from said it was bought in the early sixties while on a trip in Spain.
I did a search on ebay for Ardalt, which is printed on the bottom of this, and everything that came up was made in Japan. Maybe this was an import to Spain from Japan. I don't know...never heard of the company.

Goodness Kiara how did you find that? I just put in Ardalt when I did a search not the whole thing. They were obviously made by the same company as they are identical except the shape of the base. Thanks for the great help. I will change the category I put mine in and the title.
