Hello All,
I've combed thru a bunch of doll books that I have and have also done eBay & Google searches, but I can't find anything on this doll. She is 16" tall and is marked on back of neck "K9" and above that number near hairline looks like "4290". She has a squeeker and is made of vinyl (Or is it called rubber?). She has no other markings. Her hair is rooted and her head moves. Legs and arms don't move. Eyes open and close. Her body looks similar to a Horsman style doll but I have no idea. She was found wearing a purple dress and some shoes marked "NY Doll Co. Shoe Co." but I'd guess they may have been put on later. She's in close to perfect condition. Any experts out there who know who made her and approx. age? I'd guess she's from the 40's??? maybe older?

I don't know too much about dolls but this one looks like it has a stuffed vinyl-skin body. The face is cute and kind of generic as I've sold ones with blonde hair and blue eyes that looked very similar.
They were mostly sold in the mid-fifties. I think some were sold in Canada under the name Reliable and Star but I don't know the US manufacturer. You may find some similar ones if you check Ideal dolls.

I am pretty sure I had a doll just like that in the 1950's. I remember because we used to give her a bath and bubbles came out the hole thingie at her neck. She wasn't hollow and got VERY heavy in the water - took forever to dry and i think smelled a bit musty afterwards.
