I had a folded letter and envelope mailed from Dachau in 1941. Ebay ended the auction saying it was offensive. I believe this was in error and that the item meets their standard for items dating from WW II Germany. It was a letter and envelope for cryin' out loud - the stamp even showed Hindenburg, not Hitler.

I can't find anyway to get a reply from ebay that it is OK to relist the item. I've sent inquiries through the customer service links and have yet to receive any sort of human response.

Should I just go ahead and relist?

without seeing the item title and description, there is no use speculating why it was cancelled.
why dont you read the ebay guidelines ?

The guidelines don't mean squat., most of the time the only reason these items are canceled is because a competitor turns them in. Ebay rarely seems to actually check. Hold on to the item for a couple weeks and try it again.

If it's really "common" sense, why do so few people actually have it?

I'm with Fenix on this. Several times I've had an odd problem with Ebay which then "heals" itself if I wait a few hours or a few days.

Thanks. I've rescheduled it and added ebay's guidelines on examples of what may be listed at the start of the description "WW II memorabilia that does not bear the Nazi or SS markings". That may help inform the uninformed - but will do nothing to prevent the "competitor" from turning in it.

Since there doesn't seem to be anyway to get a human answer at ebay, why not?

I have a Mariyn Monroe Picture and Ebay ended my auction. It turned out the Photographer that took her picture had my Auction ended but I am not going take a risk to list it again and lose my Ebay. it has happen before. I will find some other source to find a buyer for this picture.

How about putting the auction here and let us figure out what was wrong with it. Usually it is a keyword or two that will trigger the problem.

I don't understand the fuss about selling Nazi and SS stuff on eBay. It's history, it happened, if I've got it and you want it, then what's the problem. This "politically correct" #*!@ is just that! I'm so sick of always having to tiptoe around everything. What happened to free speech. If it's my opinion, I should be able to express it. If it offends you, then that's too bad. I'm sure you do or say stuff that I don't like either.

What gives the photographer the right to have the auction for Marilyn Monroe's picture ended. It's no longer his picture! If he wanted it, why didn't he keep it!

I see lots of guns for sale on eBay and nobody is closing those auctions down.

Thanks for letting me rant!....it's been that kind of day.

They ain't no triggers from e bay, there are competitors or flat out babies that turn in auctions..E bay cares less what you sell. They are no different than most Cities,,,some go around looking, I am sure they are small Cities,,, Big Cities only act on complaints....And E bay is an Entire WORLD...

I relisted the item, and this time I've saved an HTML copy of the auction, plus I'm keeping track of the bidders. If an ebay rat reports it again and ebay shuts it down without even looking, I'll just contact the high bidder - currently a repeat buyer from me - and we'll work out a deal.

This will be my new strategy on anything that I believe meets ebay's guidelines for WW II memorabilia. If ebay shuts it down after a rat report, that will then open the door for an off-ebay sale to the bidders.

Also, in such instances, I'll be reporting the unknown party to ebay for auction interference.

I have yet to receive a response from ebay to justify their actions, and frankly don't expect to. I'll just work around them, as I have since 1998.
