bidder won an auction on May 11. I have emailed her at least 6 times with a total with no response. I finally filed a NPB which evidently she received from EBay. She just emailed me. She is insulted because I never gave her a total. I tried to call her but her area code is the same as the first three numbers of her phone no. Got the area code from the operator and tried and now no answer. She has zero feedback and just signed up in 4/04. Don't know what else I can do.

You can always report her to eBay for bad contact info. IMO, you've waited long enough for her to respond and pay you. Report her, and file to get your fees back.

you have waited a lot longer than would have. file for FVF and leave her a big fat neg for being non-responsive.

he/she/it is now threatening me with a neg because according to her I haven't contacted her. I didn't want another as just got a neg from a buyer who sent me a phony email from PayPal saying a widget for 39.99 + shipping was paid for. My account says no payment. I forwarded it to PP and they say it is a fraud and they are investigating. I should change my user name to "justwhining". Sorry folks

Believe me, I understand your frustration. Neg her first. Don't wait like I did and have a NPB neg me first. However, you can report her for bad contact information and I'd do it before she corrects it herself. I believe they will remove a neg due to bad contact information. If she's already corrected the information, all you can do is repond to her neg in a calm rational way that her contact information was bad at the time the auction ended.

I no longer allow my winning bidders to think the sun rises and sets on them. They either abide by my TOS or neg! I never used to think like that, but the last PIA I had forced it.

Did you send her an invoice using eBay's system? If so, there's record of that. If not, I suggest that's what you do in the future. I always use eBay's system so that there's no doubt they were sent the total.

Newbies! They are the reason that I use the Ebay and Paypal invoicing systems. Ebay should remove any neg from a fraudulent transaction so the bidder that sent you the bogus payment confirmation from Paypal will surely have any Neg he/she gives you removed by Ebay.

Maybe she is stalling for time until she has the money to pay you. I had a bidder last month reply to my EOA email asking me to send the total amount due...I guess she didn't realize that all of the info she was requesting was below her reply! I sent it back to her (really wanting to add "can you read"?) and she then told me that she needed a few more days to come up with the money and could I wait, she had bid on over 50 items and won...NEWBIES!

thanks Cheryl - I usually just email them back with a total, but just sent a total thru the listing page via EBay.
Paypal is still investigating the fraudulent paypal payment advisory.(another newbie)
Newbies shouldn't be allowed to leave any feedback especially a neg until they have 50 feedback. I have received 3 negs from newbies and 2 from whackos. They don't realize the significance of feedback and don't care. thanks for your replies.

Someone mentioned replying to their neg that their contact info is bad.

You also might consider waiting to respond to their neg, mentioning their contact info is bad, until after you have notified eBay of their bad contact info and they are temporarily NARU.

If we were going to petition eBay to remove Neg for bad contact info, we would hope it would still be bad contact info when eBay investigates.

It may not matter, but that is the way we like to handle it.

gousainc - who is "we"? Are you with EBay??

I don't think I will leave a neg unless the newby bidder does. I want EBay to investigate his contact info and see what they come up with.

If you read the chat boards on eBay, "invalid contact information" (ICI) seems to be one of the things eBay takes pretty seriously.

Someone from eBay will try to call. If the number is wrong, the eBay rep probably won't go to the same lengths to find the right area code. They'll suspend the account on the spot, though the account can be re-instated if the person corrects his or her contact info.

But, meanwhile, you might be able to fend off an unjustified neg, if you move fast. Someone with zero feedback might not try to come back after an ICI suspension. And, if eBay does succeed in reaching her, a call from a real live eBay person might make her take the process more seriously.

"Live chat" can give you a quick link to the "report ICI" form.
