"Once the new features are completely rolled out, members will be able to filter their searches so that you only see items within a certain distance from your ZIP code. Currently you can only filter your search for items within 250 miles or more. In the next couple of weeks this option will be expanded to allow you to filter by much smaller increments, such as within 10 or 25 miles." From Ebay board

I like the feature for big items such as furniture - it's nice to be able to see items in my area only. I sell a lot of furniture and advertise for pick up only.
