This is the 5 time in less than 10 days. I have changed my terms atleast 3 times so far. I only ship to Canada and europe. What is going on???? As far as payment is concerned, I am no longer taking paypal. (Havent for a long time for International bidders) Plainly stated in BOLD in several places in my auction description. Cash or Auctionpayments.com with no exceptions. This guy wins my auction, his ebay info says he is located in the USA. Now he says he is overseas and cannot use a credit card and wants to use a personal check from his personal bank at sun trust. NEVER heard of it. I think this one is not located in germany or holland like the rest but this time in central america. There is so much graft in central and so. america, the only way to really be sure things are on the up and up is if they either use cash, wire the money or use auctionpayments.com. (My personal opinion from my own experiences as I have family down there)

I had a weird two weeks ago that confused me. It said the buyer was located in the US but the emails I was getting were in really bad broken english. Then, the buyer starts asking for my bank information to transfer funds and I'll NEVER do that. I tell the buyer that I will absolutely not do that and that, as stated in my auctions, I will only take PayPal or money orders or just plain cash. The buyer says that he's in South America and that he can't use PayPal. I go to check the guy's feedback and he has something like 32, 100% positive, so I'm thinking, not too shady. But then upon reading the feedback, I notice that they're all from 1999! This person has not had a single transaction since then. Is it possible that someone has hijacked someone's username? It seems weird that this person hasn't bid on ebay for 5 years, has moved to South America and then all of a sudden decides to buy a guitar pedal! The amount was in the mid hundreds and was actually a bit more than what I would've thought the "value" should be.
The whole thing sounded shady and after my last email I have never heard anything from the buyer. He is not responding to my emails either.

I know what you mean. I just received an email from a lady who won an item stating that she realizes that I only ship to US and Canada and she's in Germany but since her daughter is vacationing in the US she felt I could ship the item to her. She didn't ask prior to bidding and that really pi**es me off.

paloma....the check from SunTrust is probably the buyer's US bank account, so a check from there would be fine. I suggest that you ask if it's a US based SunTrust. In this case, the answer will probably come back yes, Miami, which is very popular with Latin American buyers.

.As for giving out your bank info for an incoming wire, there is absolutely no risk in this. It's on every check that you write anyway.

<<Now he says he is overseas and cannot use a credit card and wants to use a personal check from his personal bank at sun trust>> Since when is Mastercard or Visa not valid overseas? Besides which, he will be dealing with a U.S. company with Bidpay. If his credit card is not acceptable to Bidpay, why should his personal check be acceptable to you? The reason you specify Bidpay - WUAP is to eliminate the risk to you. Stick to your guns. Tell him he pays on YOUR terms as stated in the auction, not on his terms that he comes up with after the auction.

sparkz, If I am going to stick to my guns, then I shouldn't even sell to him because (unless is email iSP is really off) He is located in central america which I state I do not ship to. Oh, what's a seller to do!

This is probably a pretty stupid question but with all of the Butt-Bay impovements, how do you do an instant FVF credit?

paloma.....have you had some e-mail back and forth with the buyer. I also do not ship to Central or South America. Maybe I've been lucky, but the 15-20 times that I've had winners from these countries they have all had US checking accounts and US addresses for you to ship to.

Paloma...I havn't had a chance to try it, but under the new unpaid item dispute program, as soon as you file, you can get an instant FVF refund if the reason is that a buyer is in a country you don't ship to, or, if the buyer is NARU.
