Ebay's new name via hyperlink is:

Ebay.doubleclick.net

I received one of my saved searches emails today with 10 results. Going into the "view source" resulted in no less than 54 occurences of Ebay.doubleclick.net

They have sold out to the almighty dollar I guess. I wonder why Meg hasn't just sold the company and be done with it? Most companies do take the money and run after a few years.

The active X popup is not showing up as much as it was. If I add Ebay.doubleclick.net to my banned cookies along with the other doubleclick cookies I guess I won't be able to search at all anymore.

sigh....

edited to add...try putting ebay.doubleclick.net in google and you get "This is a DoubleClick advertising server."

glassgrl ... you ought to write to the higher-ups-that-be about your findings ... they MIGHT listen to you, and give an explanation of this!!! ?

I've never seen an Active X pop-up. I do see little ads trying to load when I back out of an auction page. They don't load, they just flash on the screen for a moment and all it does is slow down the backing out.

Is that what you mean, Glassgrl?

OHmslucy! Evidently you don't have Spybot or JavaCools Spyware blaster or you'd know when you see the dreaded doubleclick!

(btw the pink dress was beautiful - the blue you wore was STUNNING!)

July 15th. already the post is over on the 6th page here. how soon we forget.

This would be the same Ebay that you're talking about that disenvows all knowledge of any Doubleclick per live help?

Or is the the Ebay that says if you have a problem with ActiveX popups to just reconfigure your security settings to always allow Doubleclick cookie to download on your computer? Or to reset your security to low?

Personally I don't want people tracking what I look at on Ebay or anywhere else, so Doubleclick is somewhat banned on my computer. I say somewhat because they can have a "new" url such as ebay.doubleclick.net that is not banned, therefore it is allowed. I will have to check into that and see how my browsing goes.

The url in the email is not evident unless you hold your mouse over the underlined link. It does not show up in the address bar so I couldn't just copy and paste which lead me to go to the source of the email - which is how I found it in 54 instances in the email.

When I go to any ebay page under a search - IF the page loads at all, I will see at the bottom of my computer page, right above the toolbar, where the page status loading bar is...an eye and a red slash circle which a privacy report and an unkown Zone (mixed). In the privacy report it will say what cookies are not allowed etc. No ebay banners or doubleclick cookies are allowed to download. The DC cookie is a tracking cookie that reports back to them what I've searched on and they use that information in order to sell it to Ebay and other companies..
