okay. sold a figurine. month later person writes showed up broken to pieces, but they left me positive fb anyway because they didnt purchase insurance. Buyer has great fb...nary a neg or neutral. My packing is unconventional to say the least, but most say they are glad things dont show up broken and feel its been packed well. Now, I could have been in a hurry with hers...I dont particulary remember it, and maybe did not give it the attention it deserved. It could have happened that way.

So I would gladly offer her a refund. I dont like things showing up to me broken either....but why do I have this nagging feeling, like its a ploy? Like being guilted into a refund or another item???

How easily do others refund and would feel especially grateful for the positive FB when the customer is would be obviously dissatisfied? Thats whats giving me a funny feeling. Plus the shipment is well over a few weeks ago?

opinions? what to do? Its a small amount of money.

I'd sure offer a refund {especially since it wasn't a lot of money as you said?} ... because they MIGHT just come back and bookmark your listings to shop through often?

Well, have you just at least sent her an email with a mea culpa or smoke the peace pipe intention? ... maybe just kissin' up a little will make her like you and your listings a lot .... ...

or ask her keep your listings in mind and tell her the next 'not large' item she orders from you will come with free shipping, somethin' like that.

... just a thought.

Hi all,

Tessa, maybe she can send you a picture. Then you can gracefully offer a refund even though she didn't ask for one.

I would. Insurance or not, I feel it's my responsibility to see that the item reaches the buyer in the same shape as when they placed their bid.

It IS hard not to just a bit suspicious seeing what some bidders are like, though.

Yes, Aint,I emailed. Nice and professional. We'll see what she says.

Just struck me tho. - If every seller was willing to refund, how often could one do this and wind up with a lot of free stuff ??

lol.

Thanks Lucy!! Thats a good idea about the picture. I feel the same way.

Just seems there are so many cons out there these days....]

I will probably wind up refunding her anyway. Better safe than sorry, I guess.

you're right neroter ..... check and see what other backhanded positive feedbacks she has left {is that where she informed you of 'broken' item?}

lol! yes! like Postive; item was nice but took a month to arrive [leaving out it took buyer 10 days to send check and 10 days to wait to clear]
or, Postive: fast shipment but the item is a piece of junk
or, Postive: everything was great but I am still somewhat dissatisfied and would like to make your day as miserable as mine.
:0)

I am sure others have some even better ones than those though!

Was it a high-priced item? Or just run of the mill?

I disagree with your shipping statement. It is my responsibilty to make sure the item is well packed to withstand heavy handling. However, I have had boxes crushed by USPS. I AM sorry, I am NOT responsible for crushed boxes or other mishandling by a carrier. That is what they pay the over priced insurance against errors made by the carrier. What a scam that is, someone paying to insure your employees and you do not suffer a loss by mishandling a package.
