Does anyone recognize this doll family? They were brought over from Japan in the mid-60's. I looked at some Hakata dolls and think they are probably made of that clay rather than porcelain. Their eyes look like they're made of glass. The parents are 13" tall and the kids are 11" tall. As usual, thank you in advance for any help!

Okay, so I'm an idiot!! I just realized I forgot to post the photos. Capolady, that cracked me up! I needed a good laugh, even at my own expense!!! Okay - here they are
LOL! I don't know anything about your dolls, but thanks for the laugh! It was needed.

Well, I'm glad to at least be of entertainment value today! I decided to go vacuum or something so I don't have to actually function! I might have to start with the Merlot early tonight.

They really are cute. And their silk kimonos are like new. I forgot to say that they all have "talk boxes" in their bellies. They don't work any more so I have no idea what they said. Also, they're held together with twine or thick string that has a little give in it.

Okay, so now that I think I'm back "in sync," I just thought I'd tell ya'll that I found an answer to my question on the doll board. The dolls are called "Ichimatsu" dolls - made in the image of a Japanese actor from a real long time ago. They are made of gofun, which is an oyster shell-glue compo material. I just love this - I keep learning new stuff!!! That, to me, is what life should be about; learning about new things and new people!! Okay, I've had my 3 glasses tonight and I'm waxing philosophical. Thank you all again for the help you always give!

Not only did you learn something new, but many of us "out here" did too!
Wouldn't you give a lot to know what those talk boxes said??!! Where's Tomwiii when we need him?

Ah! 1963! Great year! Except for NOV! But Ralphie does a hell of a rendition of "Dominique" in Serbo-Croatian!

Oh God, Ralphie, how funny! Is that for real? (I'm really gullible.) I especially like the directions for whistling. A golden Arf Arf to you, Ralphie.
