Auction closed 10 days ago, and today is the first day I hear from them and that is what they after I filed the NPB alert.
Their response:
"I have purchased the following item on eBay from you. Please send me the total amount I owe you.
I have researched this item and have discovered that my 15 year old daughter accessed my account and ordered it without my permission. I do not want a blemish on my e-bay account and will buy it if I have to. Either cancel the transaction and avoid any negative feedback on my account or tell me the shipping cost from the attached information so I can pay for it."
I respond with this:
"I can understand your frustrations, however, I'm a bit perplexed as to why it has taken so long for you to respond. I sent a winning bidder notification on 8/8, a payment reminder on 8/11, a final notice on 8/14 and filed with ebay on 8/16.
If you wish to file a complaint with Ebay for fraudulent use of your account by your daughter, then ebay will contact me regarding this and I will review their investigation and decide. Ebay rules do state that minors are not allowed to bid and your account can be suspended for allowing a minor to use your account.
I have reviewed your purchase history though, and see where you placed bids on two other items with the Jagermeister brand on them. One has already been paid for and feedback left by the seller. I seriously doubt that ebay would rule favorably in this case, especially since a history of purchasing these items has been established.
Payment will need to be received by Monday to avoid this item being relisted and an unpaid item strike being filed against you. I would recommend using Paypal to make prompt payment."
So I get this response back:
"My daughter mistakenly ordered your t-shirt and then, without me knowing it, asked me to order a different shirt, and a separate item, a poster, by giving me the auction numbers. I ordered them and responded immediately (I have responded to the non payment twice…the day of the request each time – did you see only the second one?) when you asked me about the payment because I thought that you were the t-shirt that I had ordered and paid for, obviously.
This is an honest mistake and I am not going to spend the time to final anything with e-Bay…especially AGAINST my daughter!
Your presumptions are way off base and I’ll just pay for your damn t-shirt since you apparently need the money or you wouldn’t be sniveling about this. As you can see I have a 100% rating over 4 years with E Bay. Leave it that way since I am paying you immediately now that I have your payment address."
This is so amusing. First, the story changes a bit once I uncover their scheme. I am guessing they are blaming their daughter for something they don't want to buy any longer. Giving the benefit of the doubt though, don't they simply see the problem here. They are the one who let their child use their account, not me. I know the rules, and personally, I don't care if their daughter used their account. What I don't want is for them to get me involved in their family disputes. Maybe I should ask them to give me an allowance equal to the amount owed, and I'll pretend to be a sibling and get involved. Geez.
