Can someone tell me how to download Pay Pal into Quicken.

I go over to download my history and click the tab that says Quicken but when it downloads it wants to put into MS Money. I do not use MS Money but it came installed on my computer. So I disabled it.

I do not understand why there is a Quicken tab if it will not download the right format.

Has anyone here been able to make it work?
for the record I have no problems downloading from other financial sites.

I download into Quickbooks with no problem and I have MS Money on my computer also.

When I download I save the file in My Downloads (any folder would do). Then I go into Quickbooks and transfer the file I downloaded. Quicken should be somewhat like that, I would think.

I looked at Quicken and you would go to File, then Import. You want to import a QIF file.

Everything is downloaded except the transfers to your bank account. For that I go to PayPal advanced search and choose Transfers. Print out the report and then key them in.

Thank you Debbie! It worked. I must have been doing something wrong before. My accountant told me I need to get
quickBooks next. I hope I can transfer my information easily.

For a business Quickbooks is a lot better. It will give you more reports and gives you room to grow.

I have my personal account and one small client that is not retail on Quicken and it works fine for that. But, I have my business and my other clients on Quickbooks. It lets me do everything I need to do. They have different versions out now also, so you can get the one that fits your business.

I also have Quickbooks. Can Ebay invoices be downloaded to Quickbooks? Also, was wondering the best way to post sales. I started to post the sale, ebay charge, Vendio charge, and final value charges, paypal charge, etc. on the customer invoice. I thought maybe that would be a good way to know just what the profit and expense for that item was. However maybe it is better to list all of this a different way. Sorry if this isn't explained very well, but just wondering the method you use for posting the information into Quickbooks.

I don't know if eBay invoices can be downloaded. I have never seen anything about it. I have so many auctions it wouldn't be feasible for me to line item all that info.

In Quickbooks, I have an income account set up as Sales. Under that I set up sub accounts as Auctions Sales, Website Sales and Shipping Fees. I did this because if a customer buys an item for $20 with shipping of $3.85, they are going to make a payment of $23.85. I don't want to pay sales tax on the $3.85 and I don't want it to show as Gross Profit. I use Endicia and use my PayPal Debit Card to pay for the postage. That expense is posted there. Therefore, I have the sale posted as ($23.85) and the shipping as $3.85 for a Gross Profit of ($20). I don't use an expense account because it is not an expense. The customer is paying the shipping. And if you charge a little more than the actual shipping you will have an expense with a credit balance. This account is only for the shipping of sales. Postage on regular mail should be posted in an expense account.

I also have an expense account set up as Service Fees with sub accounts for eBay, Vendio, PayPal and my merchant account.

When you download from PayPal you are only given one income account and one expense account to download to. I use Auctions Sales and PayPal fees. 95% or better of the transaction go there. Then in Quickbooks, I go in and manually move the ones that should be somewhere else. It sounds like a lot of work, but it beats posting all of those PayPal transactions. It works best for me to download everything 3 or 4 days depending on the amount of activity.

Hope this helps
