Is anybody using this? Read an article about it yesterday and thought it sounded promising. But I remember a few years ago I tried it and the voice quality was really crappy. Almost like a walkie talkie that goes in an out. The new technology is supposed to be much better now. Was wondering if anybody uses it??
I googled it VOIPand found this site [url] https://www.lingo.com/guWeb/com/primustel/gu/presentation/residential/ResidentialController.jpf /[url]
Seems like a lot of features for 14.95 a month? What do you all think?

I've been using Voip since June and its has been great. If you have fast and reliable internet then its definitly the way to go.
We even kept our original phone number. We can plug the unit into any broadband internet connection and have our phone # work anywhere there is fast internet. Try www.vonage.com

Thanks Tony!!!
I am looking for some alternatives. My phone bill has gone up and up over the months -- I think I pay 6.00 a month for voice mail alone when at one time I had a promo for it free. (I know if you change your service youre subject to lose promo's you once had) so.... I am also looking into a bundled service with the cable company. phone/internet/cable. Just think theres got to be a better way here. Trying to get a feel for what this VOIP is about and other things before I actually change the service.

Why, Neroter, always thinking of me,I see. You even bring me up when discussing something I have nothing to do with! And quote something I said in another forum altogether--although in this case it fits perfectly. "Sad, yet strangely fascinating & amusing at the same time..."

Yes, it was in my signature line to show people how obsessive you are with me - BECAUSE....I posted an Opinion in the RT ...get this - an opinion - that one can take it or leave it - about dressing/pant suits/hillary clinton that has got you so freeking twisted you've been following me around for over a month trying to get back about it because it sooooo offended you!!
I've told you ten times already it wasnt about you, and I dont care what you think if you disagree with my opinion. wtf is wrong with you that you dont understand that sentence? So still you have to pursue me with this hardon that I must agree with you. Is this a lesibian thing or what? I am not a lesbian and not interested in your muggish advances here.
Well here's the agreement you pound for: Being ugly is great!!! Being a woman and never feeling a day in your life or dressing in any shape, way, or form, feminine is GREAT!! Keeping yourself looking like sh** every day and hiding behind a computer is just great!! great! great! great! great! You happy?
Now take that and go get yourself a date with a book or a movie or whatever else you do that makes you feel wonderful and leave me the hell alone. You got the devil up your azz lady. You're way too idle with yourself inclined notions.

That little red thing is you, alright!
Another of your 'conversations' to me was AND YOU INSPIRED MY SIGNATURE LINE. I inspired you!! WOW!! How dull a life do you have that a poster on message board inspires you??? But then you think nobody reads these boards and sees or follows what follows what.
Its too bad your inspiring my signature line for all of about a minute - all I thought to give to it - was not quite up to your butchroll taste, now was it???
Let see, inspired, fascinating, amazing...
on the spot antagonized comments to my posts to other people......yeah, no obsession on your part at all.
You roll on butchbookscarredbelly, there must be another cause or another soap opera you need to follow or involve yourself in to steamroll with. God knows theres no time to do your hair or put on jewelry or put on makeup, or heaven forbid you havent worn a bra, girdle, or dress in thirty years isnt that you said was right? ...cause thats just tooo barbie doll'ish for any kind of real woman such as yourself and theres no time for that either -too busy haunting message boards for your imaginary emotional pump because you have no real one. - You need to find some inspiration from God. Not me. And also find some fascination in his words because I cant help ya butchiebunni!

Neroter...There was a recent news article in which the FCC has determined that they have the authority to regulate this service. My guess is that they will jump in and fully regulate it and be lobbied quite heavily by the telecommunications industries. Once the Feds get their snouts in the trough, the individual states will quickly follow suit. Just be aware that the service you sign up for today may be an entirely different animal 6-12 months down the road.

You seem obsessed to the point that you drag it over here into the EO, bringing up something I said about three weeks ago as if it is something you just can't get over. Clothing & make-up seem somehow desperately important to you, to the extent that anyone who does not march lockstep with you on the subject "must" be a homosexual. I also wonder why you can't seem to hold a conversation without going into hysterical rants.
But as Lucy says, discussions such as this belong on the Round Table. I will be happy to discuss it with you there.

sparkz, yes, the telecommunications industry seems to change so rapidly. I guess with the new technology they scramble to jump ahead of each other with new gizmos and features. I looked into a cable 'bundle' package. internet, cable, phone, and it would appear (for now, as you said..lol) it is the best deal out there. So I think I am going to go with that.
Lucy, Sorry. This following me all over the place with this fascination thing is ridiculous! I put it in my sig line to show her she needs to get a life and leave me alone. But I guess that is what one does when their life is so totally boring and there's nothing else to put your thoughts into. I do apologize to the rest of the board readers for having to witness the shakedown to get this predator thing off my back. [And of course I am to be the mature one and let it go for the sake of people who DO HAVE other topics they find way more interesting because no matter what I post she will reply to it.] When somebody gets fixiated on you like this, it is cause for concern. I am not a fn celebrity - just a regular ebay seller like the rest who post here. And like everybody else, I have my own opinions about things. - Now she wants to 'discuss me' with her in the rt? No thanks.
Again, sorry to the board. I am getting back to my ebay business. You all have a good day!

I have had mixed luck with VOIP. I used it first with my DSL line and it would cut out for one or 2 seconds in the middle of a phone call. We could not figure out what was happening, but I gave in and sent it back.
I got a Cable Modem instead of DSL and tried it again. It has been perfect with the Cable Modem. Better Voice quality than a standard phone line. I am using Vonage, and their service is very good. Not all VOIP providers are equal so check them out before you buy. 500 minutes of long distance and every feature I can dream of for $25 a month. Vonage has feature most others don't and that is it supports 911, most VOIP systems don't have any support for this.
