I currently have a Vendio Store that might as well be a storage closet for as much traffic it gets. Its been over a year and I've had couple sales, but it has not paid for itself. So I'm going to close it down.
I've tried everything I can think of to drive traffic to the store, but nothing seems to work.
Can anyone tell me if they think opening an ebay store will do better and why? I don't think it really can do worst then the vendio store has.
What do you think is an Ebay store better then a Vendio Store? Why do you think one is better then the other? Is the upgrade ebay stores really worth the extra cost?
I'm sure the subject has been covered before. I went back in the history as far as I could to see if this has been asked before and I couldn't find anything.
Your comments will be greatly appreciated, Thanks, Curtis

1) Buyers feel more comfortable buying on the ebay platform
2) Easy to get to your store from your auctions
3) While this doesn't apply to everything, it is possible for ebay store items to appear on searches, and you can do a search of items in ebay stores
Of course, a lot of store business no matter where it is, depends on how you promote it. I know when I started my ebay store not all that long ago, I was not running any auctions (due to an upcoming extended vacation) and I was still getting sales, and from people who were not previous customers! Ebay stores has been a tremendous success for me. I can't compare with Vendio because I only wanted to deal with one platform. I thought about them briefly, but for the reasons stated above, I went with ebay.

The key for many online webstores is getting listed high in the major search engines for the items your carry. There are many fine free websites that provide lots of information on how to do this. Try a google search for search engine ranking, search engine submission, getting listed in search engines etc. My preference for an ebay like webstore is www.shoporium.com under $20 a month, unlimited items, no per item fees no final value fees, super easy to use and same free software does both your ebay and shoporium listings and you can easily change between the two. Spend a little time researching about meta tags, headers, titles, key words, etc and it is amazing how well you can show up in the search engines. Consider using a free or low cost search engine submission service. One other thing to remember is that it often takes a while before your site gets spidered by the major search engines after you register, so being patient is a good idea. Plan on at least 12 months to get your site bringing in lots of trafffic based on search engine results.
One more thought is that customers should have some significant reason to shop from your store, eg, something that makes your webshop better than all the rest. This could be your merchandise, length and breadth of product line, pricing, service, ease of use or many other things. But you should have some niche, something that your site does better than the rest. Good luck!
