Just noticed your reply on the wanted board.
Yes, it is a MasterCard logo on the Beanie's nose.
I get the bears free for using my MC CC & then presell them on eBay.
Since this issue is new, & no one yet has the actual bears, to get a picture you have to go to ty.com the Beanie site to save the picture.
For some reason I cannot get it to copy to my floppy disk so I can download it.
So, I thought maybe I could put it on Wanted & see if I could copy it from there, I couldn't.
I used to be able to save anything when I had Windows Millenium, but now I have Windows XP & it just won't do it. I have to save it as a JPG to copy & all it will save it as is ART or BitMap & these will not copy onto my disk.
I had to have someone else do it for me & they think that if I change browsers I could do it myself.
Of course I have no idea how to change browsers so I'm stuck.

McJane - i have xp and i was able to download that image - it saved as a .gif file (right click on the image and choose the "save as" option..choose the location, name the file and it's saved). Is that the way you tried to do it?

neglus,
Thanks very much for your help, but it doesn't work for me, let me try to explain.
First of all I download all my auction pictures from a floppy disk because I don't know any other way to do it. If I'm using my Mavica it's fine, but not when I try to save something else like a gif or jpeg.
I used to be able to click "save as" & then would be taken to a drop down menu & I would choose floppy disk & at the bottom on another drop down I could choose Art, jpeg or bitmap & I think gif. I always chose JPEG because it would copy onto the disk & then I could download it, art & bitmap will not copy onto the disk.
What I was using when I could do that was a desk top computer with Win Millenium. Now I have a laptop with XP & the jpeg is not on the drop down menu, I no longer have that choice & art & bitmap, the only two choices I have, will not copy onto the floppy.
I would like to know how to add jpeg to my drop down menu & as I said I was told I was probably using the wrong browser. That's all Greek to me I have no idea what browser I am using & wouldn't know how to change it anyway. I'm not even sure if that is what my problem is anyway.
Remember, I am not trying to save this picture in my computer, I am trying to copy it to a 3&1/2 floppy. If I saved it somewhere else I would probably never find it again.
I know nothing about computers & another thing I can't figure out how to do with this XP is clear my temp files, all I can find is clean disk.

Thanks Lucy, but I do have the picture. I gave a friend my user ID & PW & they downloaded it on my auction management program for me. I can always do that in the future, but I really like to do things myself.
stone, don't have paint shop pro & as for capturing it you have no idea how computer challanged I am, would have no idea how to do that. My first computer was a Compaq 286 portable, so have been using one for years, but never seemed to have much of a problem that couldn't be easily taken care of & never had to learn much, I've been very lucky so far, now I'm stuck...It was bound to happen.
I'm just glad I don't have to copy pictures very often.

Yes & no, I am wmconnect.com which is managed by AOL, but does not have keyword search or any other of the stuff that they have.
I was AOL when I had windows Millenium.

Tom - I know what McJ is talking about and it's not an AOL issue. It's something within the file. I have a supplier who has the same thing going on but just with about 30% of their image files. Most I can just click on and save as a jpg but there are some that when you hit the Save As the only format enabled is BMP. Luckily since I have Photoshop I can just copy those and pase the image into a new file in PS then save that as a jpg.

Tom, I knew you were going to ask me that & I can't answer it. I have no idea what browser I am using. Tell me how to find out & I will tell you.
Problem is I only know how to download pictures from a 3&1/2 floppy so I need to be able to copy them to a disk & without the choice of jpeg or gif I am stuck.
The person who told me it was probably my browser might be right, I will change it if I only knew how.
By the way, Ivan has arrived in eastern PA, just a light rain.
Fenix, yes it is cute, but the MasterCard Beanie before this one was REALLY cute.
Here it is, no MC logo, eBay logo.

BROWSERS: ain't nuthin but that BIG window in front of you RIGHT NOW as you visit here with Ralphie & me!
Ya had to get here to VD somehow, right?
I power-up me ole Commodore64 & once the DESKTOP is in front of me, I now decide to visit the fine folks at the EO BOARD at VENDIO...BUT, how can I do that?
First, I have to connect to the INTERNET!
But, since I'm on cable, I'm already connected all the time! But, say I weren't, but on DIAL-UP?? Well, then I'd have to click some button to tell my PC to dial the number & make funny noises & after about 5 years, I'm CONNECTED!
BUT...just being connected to the INTERNET means NOTHING! Why? Because I need a program to enable me to look at all the COOL thingys on the internet -- in other words, I need a...BROWSER!
>>>mcjane: if yer reading this now, then look at the VERY TOP OF YER PC SCREEN & what do you see?
If you see: A wierd"E" and "fenix - Vendio Community - Microsoft Internet Explorer," then your BROWSER is: INTERNET EXPLORER
Easy as choking a pretzel!
NOW, look right below the very TOP of the screen -- right below the word "MICROSOFT" -- see that little word: "Help"???
LEFT CLICK on that little word & a drop-down menu will magically appear (KEWL, Ralphie!)AT THE BOTTOM of that drop-down menu (or just about ANY "HELP" dd-menu) is an option called: "ABOUT" -- LEFT CLICK that word "ABOUT," and a window will appear & tell you the exact name & model number of this program! WOW!
mcjane: let's try that out, OK? Do a "HELP" thingy & an "ABOUT" thingy & you'll learn the NAME & MODEL of yer BROWSER...

Just to add to what Tom said..if you have the AOL icon instead of the "e" in the upper left corner, you are using AOL's version of IE.
Minimize AOL and see if you have an "e" on your screen desktop. If you do, click that and you should open your IE browser. Using that browser, go to Vendio and then to your test on the "wanted" section and right click on your bear. NOW do you get some options for saving the image?

sometimes you can work around this by choosing to email the picture. it usually saves it by default as a jpeg.
I'll look and see later what the deal is about this.
I've had it come up before but can't remember right now how or why. I usually just save it as a .gif or .bmp and then open it in my picture editing and save a copy of it as a jpeg.
here's a picture of the Tornado and it's path. We live about where the "ri" is in Thomas Drive. Interesting isn't it that it turned away from us?

glassgrl, just tried to email the picture to me, got this message, have tried that before & always get the same message.
Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'wmconnect', Server: 'localhost', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 7362, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F
That's OK, but WHY use their stinky BROWSER? All ya have to do, once you connect to the internet is [b]MINIMIZE[/b[ that junky window, & then open & use the BROWSER of your own choosing!
See the THREE little SQUARES in the UPPER RIGHT HAND corner of your browser window? Just LEFT-CLICK on the "-" ("minus" sign) and the BROWSER disappears (well, actually, it's now a tiny little dingy down in the bottom & you can ignore it)!
NOW, yer DESKTOP is in front of ya -- RIGHT? Somewhere on that desktop is a big BLUE "e" that is a shortcut ti INTERNET EXPLORER!
If it ain't on yer DESKTOP, donna worry, just click START & it's there on yer START MENU
LEFT CLICK it & YOU now can use IE to surf as yer BROWSER.
WINDOWS UPDATE: if you haven't done so recently, go there FIRST & scan for updates & bring yer PC up to security snuf!

Ralphie requests that you file this for future frustration:
"Basically, the Walmart ISp is just a stripped down AOL, which is I had known, I would have never put it on my computer, as I am no fan of AOL.
The Phone # to cancel this ISP is 1-888-855-0942
the number is listed in the cardboard folder the cd comes in, and nowhere else, with the exception of this site.
For the most part I have always been connected, it is the software it self that I have an issue with, it takes over various aspects of things saved and changes the icons, and if you switch ISP's, you have to have web addresses, because if you bookmark or open using walmart, just like AOL, it will not be accessible, so before I get rid of it, I have to go in to my bookmarks and my favorites and manually write the important addresses down...Be sure if you are getting rid of this service to do a complete un-install, and also to do a check all folders/files---there will be a lot of fragmented stuff, just like AOL--they attach a lot of adware/spyware and garbage onto your computer---so if you know how to, back yourself up---I had serious corruption of files after getting rid of AOL, and I am hoping it is going to be as bad when I dump walmart. If the weren't using AOL software, I'd probably keep them, but it causes too many problems with dial up, and slows me down---Also---most links do not work properly when you try them the 1st or 2nd time---so I do not use this as my browser----ever...
I just want an ISP without anything else---is this possible??? Just an access ##---bare bones ISP??? none of their pages and ads and garbage??? Any suggestions???~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Celena"

OK, that was TOO easy, I must have done something wrong!
Very top of the page:
E fenix - Vendio Community - Microsoft Internet Explorer provided by Com...
(this is verbatim)
Using IE browser, right?
So, I went to Wanted board & tried to put the picture on a floppy & still only have the two choices that will not copy, Art & bitmap.
Obviously it's not the browser causing the problem.
I am being forced to learn how to "save" things in another place, oh boy & I have no idea how to do that, but I will learn because I have to. Thank heavens this problem of having to save doesn't come up too often.

SAVE is not a big deal!
Your PC is just a Dilbert cubicle stuffed with filing cabinets!
THAT'S ALL A PC IS!
Your easiest filing cabinet to use is your HARD DRIVE, usually designated "D" for DUMB JUNK and "C" for CRITICAL STUFF DON'T MESS WITH! (note: yer filing cabinets may have differing letter designations!)
So, when I need to steal (er, Ah, I mean "borrow) a pic from the web, I just SAVE AS that file into my "D" drive!
BUT...first, I have to create a FOLDER in that filing cabinet to put this piece of paper ("FILE) into...
RALPHIE'S TUT FOR FOLDER CREATION:
1) LEFT CLICK on MY COMPUTER...
2) A window will appear with a bunch of funny pics (called "ICONS) -- those are yer FILING CABINETS! They should be marked as FLOPPY or HARD DRIVE ("LOCAL DISK) or OPTICAL DRIVE or WHATEVER & they have LETTER DESIGNATIONS...
I usually use HARD DRIVE "D" -- most PCs today have HARD DRIVE "D" for are yer JUNK & FUN STUFF and HARD DRIVE "C" which is reserved for things WE SHOULD NOT FIRETRUCK AROUND WITH, like WINDOZE, PROGRAM FILES, etc!
3) PICK the FILE CABINET you gonna use -- the "D" LOCAL DISK (HARD DRIVE) perchance, &
LEFT-CLICK on it -- magic, a new window opens up, which is just the INSIDE of this FILING CABINET!
4) WAY UP in the UPPER LEFT top corner is the word "FILE" >> LEFT CLICK on that & slide over to "FOLDER" & LEFT CLICK ON THAT word!
5) WOW! A "NEW FOLDER" is born!
6) BORING NAME! So, let's RENAME that NEW FOLDER to sumptin kewl, OK?
7) PUT your CURSOR (the little HAND thingy that moves to yer MOUSE'S orders) over THE NEW FOLDER and now you must (watch out) RIGHT-CLICK (pretty easy, really) & a
DROP-DOWN MENU appears!
8) LEFT CLICK the word "RENAME" from the drop-down menu & MAGICALLY, a DIALOG BOX appears, which is a hint from you PC that yer susposed to TYPE sumptin in the BOX!
9) TYPE in the name for yer NEW FOLDER, such as GOODIES (just use ONE word for NOW) and HIT the "ENTER" key & GUESS WHAT???
YOU & RALPHIE HAVE JUST CREATED A NEW FOLDER IN YOUR FILING CABINET!
way kewl, Ralphie!

The important thing to remember is: it's REALLY DIFFUCULT to hurt yer PC!
I got my first "modern" PC back in 1997 & sat there & just about 'ed -- twas NO instructions, just a bunch of little pictures in a big screen!
WTF was I susposed to to with this silly thingy that I'd just blew $1300 on??!!
So, I started to READ!
WINDOWS FOR DUMMIES is a great place to start!
She teaches all this BASIC JUNK, such as folder creation & COPY&PASTE, etc...
After zooming thru that, I wanted some more MEAT!
And I discovered that MICROSOFT publishes a slew of great books that will teach you just about everything -- VERY QUICKLY!
THE MORE YOU LEARN, THE MORE YOU CAN DO -- EASILY!
Remember: A PC is just a BUNCH of FILING CABINETS!

Blonde method:
right click on desktop. create new folder rename anything. I have one I call Unused Desktop items.
When I save anything! I save it to my desktop. Either under a new folder or just to my desktop. Then when I'm finished with whatever it was I was doing, I drag it over to the Unused desktop folder.
and YES, I agree with Ralphie and Tomwiii. Once you use the big E, AOL/Walmart fav places are trash.
Don't you have an E down by the start icon? That's the easiest way to open it up. If you don't, you can....
Start/all programs/IE right click and "create shortcut" which will immediately appear on your desktop.
Then you should be able to drag it down to that area of your toolbar...down by the start button.
You can even arrange those icons to your preferences by dragging them over...or even delete the ones you don't use.

Ralphie, you sweet little guy, I'm doin just fine thanks to your daddy & glassgrl.
I've got a cute, but snappy, Chihuahua named Stacy that said to say "Hello Handsome" to you.
She has good taste.
First of all, I'm on dial up. Had cable for a month & didn't think it was worth 42.00 a month so dropped it, I really don't need it.
I've been using a computer for about 12 years, even had webtv at the same time, but only for my own enjoyment. Before the Internet I used to play games, mostly Lemmings, loved it & spent hours at it. I never kept files or anything like that, never had to. I practically never go to start & click on things to see what they are & if my desk top, screen saver, font, cursor or anything else is changed it's because someone else playing with my computer did it, I never mess with anything, it doesn't interest me, not curious I guess.
When I started to sell on eBay I had to learn some things & know where I learned it, right here on EO. Someone would ask a question & I would think I could use those answers so I would cut & paste it in an email & send it to myself & then print it out & it worked for me & gradually I learned what I needed to know to list auctions. I know a lot of what is needed to know to make the Internet fun, but almost none of the technical stuff & I just can't get interested. I'll tell you one thing I did though, my modem has been knocked out by lightning twice, & both times I replaced the modem myself, proud of that, I am.
Blond Moment...glassgrl (Yes,I'm a blond) Why didn't I think of that, put it on my desktop, that I can do....so easy, why didn't I think of that & that's what I'm going to do.
I will say that your instructions, Tom, are very easy to follow & I can't thank you enough for your patience. When I see a post, "Need Computer Help" I read every reply & it's like in code to me & I'm thinking what are they talking about.
When I was on AOL I knew how to clear my temp files & history, but can't do it on XP & would appreciate someone telling me how to do that & also how to erase a disk, used to know how to do that too, but not now.
Years ago I bought a book on computers & on the first page the author said that using a computer is easier than using a telephone.
Someone should have strangled that liar.
Thanks Tom & glassgrl, don't know what I would do without you.
